The 3DS has no major competition. There's the Vita, but its market is small. Therefore there's no core multiplats that the standard gamer expects to play.

At the end of the day they compete within the same market. But unless you plan to self build then it's expensive.
And even if you do self build, you can always run into issues.

For example, after replacing my heat sink with a new one my air flow has become fucked up and now my GPU gets hotter than it used to. It's also rather noisy at times and produces a lot of heat.

Consoles take away that stress, you don't need to worry about maintenance and have it all done for you. And there's also a lot of console exclusive games that won't make their way to the PC.
It's why I'm an idort. But for people who can't afford that, or can't be arsed, I can see why a console is a viable alternative

The xbox is looking to have the most interesting and varied exclusive titles, but it doesn't surprise me that the other consoles are selling more, sony have released in more countries and have spent more on advertising, the wii-u has had some very good releases.

I imagine once the halo bundle is announced in a few weeks-a month, then things will start kicking.

If they announce something good at gamescom, I could also imagine more people will be interested.

To be honest, the 360 was probably the least selling console of last gen anyway, it surprises me that more people didn't expect this anyway, with hardware failures accounting for a lot of the sales figures.

Nintendo as a whole is fine because I think the Wii U is still profitable (not sure though, too lazy to google, it probably is though since it uses nothing but tech from 10 years ago and is sold for 250 fucking bucks), and the 3DS prints money since day one. Nintendo also has Pokemon which is still huge.

Back to the original topic of Wii U being doomed, you have to consider that Wii U has its biggest system sellers out already, that being 3D Mario, 2D Mario, and Mario Kart. Despite that, it still can't outsell the PS4 which has nothing but shitty multiplats. When the PS4 inevitably starts getting all the japanese support (MGS5, FFXV, and all the weeaboo exclusives that were PS3 exclusives last gen, such as Tales, Miku, Disgaea, Persona) and huge exclusives (such as TLOU Rehashed, Uncharted 4, GT, etc) it will completely obliterate the Wii U in sales worldwide.

Finally, by doomed I mean that it will end up in third place (around 30million sales at best when PS4 and Bone will exceed 70m) with no third party support and pretty much nothing but the usual nintendo sequels and the occasional third party bribe exclusive (which probably will depend on the success of Bayonetta 2, if that bombs I don't think Nintendo will invest again in projects like this).

Problems will come in the long run as Nintendo will fade to irrelevancy. Iwata knows this and that's why he's going to focus on QoL devices on the side of video games. I think that will be too late, Samsung has already jumped on that bandwagon with the Galaxy S4 and it's S-Health, S5 and Note 3 are only focusing on that more and more and it is working.

Yes, the fans are clogged with dust and the GPU gets hot as fuck.. In critical cases, the PC will actually underperform because systems in place will limit the power output related to the temperatures, to avoid it getting burned out.

Take out the GPU, take out the CPU fan, and clearn those very thorougly. You should also screw out the CPU fan itself from the box thing, so you can remove the dust on the inside of the fan, which is most likely what causes the noise in most cases.

And do that at the very least every 6 months bare minimum. Do not let it accumulate for years, or it will take 10 times the time to clean it up properly.

It literally takes 10 minutes after you've done it the first time.

VGChartz is known for guessing in general.

If the only problem was that it only counted physical sales, then that wouldn't be a problem. People are fine with NPD info and that only counts physical too.

VGChartz specific problem is that it's massively guess work. They're sometimes revise their old numbers once NPD and the like release theirs, but a lot of it is still way off.

The short term figures mean basically nothing save for the roughest levels of magnitude

Sony fans are the ones crying because their game, MGR, was ported to PC, plus they are still butthurt about Kamiya comment on the PS4 incapability to do backwards compatibility and how Bayo1 do on the PS3.
