"s-sorry for trying something new guys."
Just be happy it got a re-release at all
Because this is the first time the Platinum Rewards weren't some form of exclusive physical collectible.
Not to mention the odds are strong that a Platinum Member already owns most of the good games they're selling.
You know, it wouldn't have been so bad if they offered some games on the same level as DKCRs for both Wii U and 3DS (Like Pikmin 3, NSMB, WWHD, Animal Crossing, etc).
Kind of glad I didn't try to go Platinum this year. After the buttons + Majora's Mask sountrack, everything has been crap.
>not taking the codes from FUCKING gamestop
>not tradin' for codes on Neogaf/CAG/gamefaqs
I've gotten 3 free games today. been a great club nintendo year for me!
They did. Game & Wario
Donkey kong is a port of a last gen game, its not that important or great. Most people already that have this deal already played it.
Game & Wario was just bad though, not nearly enough multiplayer content.
spend over 200 dollars.
get platinum status
rewards are the equivalent a jump rope, googly glasses, a hat, a bottle opener, and a sticky hand. Earthbound being the glasses.
pic related to what's become of club nintendo
No it's not. It's incentive for filling out tons of forms for them to use in their market research. Why don't people understand this? Club Nintendo isn't just for you buying games, it's for you filling forms out and giving them information.
And besides, if you already have these games, which most people do, you're shit out of luck since you can't do anything with another digital copy of a game. At least with physical limited edition stuff no one already had it, or would be OK with having a duplicate if by some force they already had it.
God I fucking hate the fact I get nothing for Platinum this year.
gba emulator on flashcarted 3ds soon. You can already do it on the supercard DSTwo.
Sure filling out forms is tedious but it's still a better way to express your feelings on the direction their games are taking rather than letting them make vague interpretations of sales data.
NES Remix: I almost swear they put that in just to get people interested in it to buy the second game
Earthbound: Anyone a fan of the Mother series already got this day 1
Dr. Luigi: Just fucking Dr. Mario but with L
Donkey Kong: Oh good a year old game that is a port of a 4 year old game. You shouldn't have. Not only that it's 2.5 gigs so if you are like my friend you might get it and never replaced your SD card. And will now have to buy a bigger SD card to actually play the reward.
Fluidity: I actually don't know anything about it
Dillon's: A shitty tower defense game
Mario and Donkey Kong: I actually don't know much about this either
Ice Climber and onward: ROMs that you can easily play on a toaster. But even if you like buying ROMs the only good one is Zelda 2, Wario Land, and Mario Land. But even than they are no where close to the reward we got before.
So most of them are shit or most people played them. And they are not SPECIAL rewards. They don't feel like they are special. A physical thing is special. A game that no one else has is special (Like Advance Wars: Days of Ruin in Japan). Something other than this.
Yeah but the 3ds scene is getting strong recently. Smealum said he can run code on 7.x firmware now. It's only a matter of time before we are getting emulators on 3ds.
Not even cheap but lazy too. Nearly ever VC was on the reward page so if you had the coins you could get them if you really want to. And the other games are either shit, already bought, or have no will to want them. Who in their right mind felt this was how to reward customers that actually got their games all year.
If someone doesn't want their Nintendo Platinum gift, I'll take DKCR for the 3DS for free.
First, they're not free. You have to spend a lot of money to get platinum.
Secondly, Club Nintendo had exclusive gifts for members.
Thirdly, the "free" games offered are horrible. Except maybe for 3DSDong.
compared to the WiiWare one?
>Luigi as the doctor and viruses look different
>L-Mode where double pills fall (can play Classic Mode, if you want)
>Online services are on (WiiWare's has been taken offline)
>First, they're not free. You have to spend a lot of money to get platinum.
Yes, but you got games for that money. You spent $600 and got 10 $60 games. The 600 coins and platinum status you got were extra.
The only people upset here are Sonyponies who are assblasted at the fact that PS4 has nogaems to sell let alone give away for free.
>WAAAH WHAT IS THIS NINTENDO WTF? WHERE ARE MY PHYSICALS WAAAAAAAAAAH
>If you don't want the free rewards for buying fun games, go ahead and don't take any.
>H-Haha dude i'm jk these rewards are fine..
>The 600 coins and platinum status you got were extra.
Which you get after filling out and registering tons of surveys for them.
So, it's not 'for free'. It's extra for doing stuff for them.
Is this really such a hard concept to grasp?
>3DS virtual console STILL doesn't have SNES or GBA games despite that fact that are both are provably possible.
>Nintendo STILL thinks we want to play GBA games on our home console
Where would you rank this year's rewards compared to previous years?
I think it's a great deal and I probably won't keep playing most of the games I download so it's not a problem. Take it as renting Games but you get it for a whole year for only 50€. if you where to rent at a store 50€ would be reached in 2-3 months.
It's intuitive and has depth enough to garner your time. Multiplayer is fun as hell and the campaign maps will test you, especially on hardcore.
>shitty indie game
Dude go sperg over Cave Story.
Being a fan is ridiculous in the first place, I only bothered with the Club stuff because I got myself some nice collectables in exchange. Pic related.
If I want to play Metroid I'd spend my coins on it.
>2 fucking games in the eshop update this week
What the hell is nintendo doing?
God, I remember people were bitching hard about 2013.
Well this just shows that either they stopped caring or doesn't understand how people viewed the Club Nintendo. It was shown to be gifts for their loyal fans that bought they stuff and did their surveys. Win win for everyone. We bought it new which in turns is good for Nintendo and we get special rewards only we can get. Now they gave us games we can get whenever we want. And not only that pretty shitty games at that.
Than someone beat me to it or I've been
tricked on the internet.
I envy the /v/irgin that had enough coins in the small timeframe this thing was out to buy it.
I bet he had fuck all to redeem with those coins and about half were expiring, and then this came out.
>never played Wii version
>never played 3DS version
No rustled jimmies here captain, I'm having a great time.
It's alright. Pretty small though
It was primarily for people who constantly bitched that they were sitting on a mountain of coins and had nothing to get with them.
Not for losers like you with sub 200 coins.
You can't determine whether or not getting a full-retail game is better than some exclusive pieces of paper? Really?
I don't understand what everyone is bitching about. You'd all rather have a fucking calendar or some post cards than a free game? Nintendo should have offered more than one retail game per platform, but how is this not an improvement over the last several years of fucking nothing?
If we get four full games next year, two per platform, I think that'd be wonderful. The problem here is that people who have both of the full games have nothing to choose from that seems worth it.
It costs money to get those gold/platinum rewards.
Some others had to be sacrificed in the process.
That's just what our coins are used for. If you can get 600 coins (about $600 worth) you get a pick of OP image. It use to be physical stuff. First it was a statue and slowly turn to shit and now nothing at all.
>No it's not. It's incentive for filling out tons of forms for them to use in their market research. Why don't people understand this? Club Nintendo isn't just for you buying games, it's for you filling forms out and giving them information.
And people should fill out those forms. People should fill out those forms with as much information as it gets. Reminder that Miyamoto advised Intelligent Systems to remove the story from Sticker Star and not to feature any character made after Mario 3 purely due to feedback he received from the Super Paper Mario club nintendo forms.
What's so bad about getting a game as a reward? I'd rather have a game than tiny posters, postcards, a calendar, etc.
The only good Club Nintendo Platinum reward so far was the Super Mario Bros. statue from a few years ago. Still have that proudly on display.
Why don't they just make the goals higher than to weed out the faggots?
500 for Gold, 1000 for Platinum.
This lets fewer people get platinum, thus allowing for the based physical awards that /v/ loves so much.
Seriously fuck you Reggie.
Well, you can't carry your Wii U around in your pocket. I think the idea is that he wants it portable, not stuck in his home.
>but this is 2014 and ya have to have PSN+ with PS4 anyway.
So that makes it okay? And no, you don't HAVE to have PS+, just like you don't have to have XBL Gold to play your Xbox.
The fact is they're rentals, plain and simple. At least with the 360's GWG you keep those games forever. I've downloaded at least five full-retail and several arcade games, and they would have run me at least $50-60 if I had bought them all outright. Still not great, I'd rather just not pay for XBL, but still miles better than PS+'s rentals. Anything you'd actually want to keep on PS+ you're basically going to be buying twice. Once for the PS+ rental, again when you actually buy it.
>you already buy lots of Nintendo games
>here's a free Nintendo game as a way of saying thanks
>this is somehow a bad thing
Be entitled all you want, but I'm perfectly happy with my new, free copy of NES Remix. It's something I wanted to check out, but didn't want to pay $15 or whatever it was, so I'm actually pretty happy about this as a reward.
Not at all. The Pikmin keyrings are better than pretty much anything NA CN has had in the past year or so.
Though Japan's beats everyone completely. They get all the good shit.
Or have multiple physical stuff and tell you when something runs out. Japan gets tons of nice shit while we over here is stuck with shitty games. I would love to see the look on the Japanese faces if Club Nintendo tried to pull that shit on them.
You don't keep anything with PS+. The games that are 'free' with PS+ go to your library when you download them, but they will disappear if/when your PS+ sub lapses.
There are some games you can by at a discount only available to PS+ members too, they change those regularly.
If more people got Platinum then they would have made more Platinum allowing them more cheap $1.99 physical rewards to thank us for spending $400-$700 this year.
That's utter bullshit whether it's true or false.
I think the issue is if you reached Platinum, there's a large chance that you already own all of the games offered that you care about.
With an exclusive physical reward, you won't already have the item. It's new.
Doc's Punch Out is a good reward, but this year doesn't have good rewards except for Donkey Kong, which most people already have either for the Wii or 3DS.
And im sure that won't happen again, given how Sticker Star didn't do well and people complained about the lack of the PM content, and nintendo will likely treat club survey info with a grain of salt.
>If you have a PS4 you need PS+
No, you don't. You just won't be able to play online if you don't have it.
>"SLURPYTYSLURP Gimme those $2 post cards again Nintendo I'm gonna suck it all!"
I'd rather get a game than some fucking post cards I'll never actually send to anyone or a calendar that will be useless in a year.
And anyone who goes out and buys Nintendo games to get coins is an idiot. I just registered stuff I would have bought anyway, like my 3DS and a few games, and a bunch of old DS/Wii games I already owned.
It was literally made for people who either horde codes or managed to amass enough coins before their coins started to expire.
I had about 1700 or something coins and some were gonna expire but i got the statue just in time.
I wont open my luigi statue though cause it seems better to preserve it.
>No, you don't. You just won't be able to play online if you don't have it.
Which doesn't even matter right now considering there are about 3 games with good online play on PS4 right now.
It was bigger than I thought. Had to delete some demos.
Anyone willing to give out a code for Returns 3D?
The only difference this year is that there's no N64 game for gold members, but we have like twice as many games to choose from. IIRC last year we had 3 or 4 games to choose form, and there's 8 this year.
>Just be happy it got a re-release at all
>Sucking up and accepting stupid business practices.
Yeah, no. I think I'll use my critical thought into finding a better solution...
I like Nintendo's games, but their way of doing things are stupid.
Why would you put the GBA Yoshis Island on WiiU VC and not the original SNES version?
>mfw getting a Gateway today or tomorrow
>Why would you put the GBA Yoshis Island on WiiU VC and not the original SNES version?
Because the GBA version has exclusive GBA levels that aren't in the SNES version.
Actually, Virtual Console dumps work on Gateway now.
There aren't many VC dumps though since they didn't work for the longest time.
I only have NES Zelda and Link's Awakening DX dumps.
>I'll emulate because I'm a rebel!
>Already own all the Mario Kart 8 promotion games in physical form (US Promotion)
>Redeemed the Pikmin 3 download code
>Traded it for a Game&Wario code
>Picked Dr.Luigi as my platinum prize
>Get 5 dollars back from the Digital Deluxe promotion
>Get 60 easy coins for registering both games
I wanted Game&Wario and Dr Luigi but wasnt willing to pay for them cause i thought the prices were too high, so this works out.
>Don't live in the US
>Digital rewards are perfect for me
>mfw I missed this
>stupid business practices
Yeah, so monumentally stupid of them. They will surely lose millions over this HORRIBLE business decision.
Oh, wait, they won't, you're just a little asspained.
Don't care about buttons, stickers, pencil cases, figurines, and calendars.
I don't know about everyone else but the reason I redeem codes and earned coins was to get free VC games because who the fuck would pay for something you can emulate?
This year Nintendo gave me a copy of Earthbound. Not surprised or upset. Though a Smash early access demo would have been great too.
Or maybe a prototype amiibos. Just the doll without the chip. They can easily mass produce them and give them out as rewards. It's not like it would cost them a fuck ton. Would be more interesting than the shit we got the past few years.
For those turbofaggots who don't understand why people are upset, it's about exclusivity of the prizes. Getting to Platinum is supposed to feel special.
These are all games that anybody can just go out and buy at any time, and all of them are relatively cheap compared to most games. And of course half of them can be emulated.
The digital rewards would also feel a lot less shitty if they had more actual, full retail games. The two they have here are a bargain-priced minigame compilation and a port of a Wii game.
:^) ayyy llamo
If anyone's got a spare code please for the love of god I want the Dong!
>No it's not. It's incentive for filling out tons of forms for them to use in their market research
I give random answers to the multiple choice questions and one-letter answers to the write-ins. It takes all of 45 seconds.
And at least they're upfront about market research and it's only about their games. Not like Nintendo has a spy camera in your home, reading your heart rate and targeting Dewrito ads at you based on how much CoD you play. Surveys are probably the best, least intrusive way to get feedback from customers. They're voluntary and don't get any information you're not willingly giving.
enjoy your nintendo drm. You're basically renting those roms until you're console dies.
I have 2 3ds's and I can only play my digital games on the one I downloaded them, I would have to do drm transfer bullshit, and can only do it 5 times, so fuck it
Yeah thanks Nintendo for these amazing Club Nintendo prizes in Scandinavia. Hahaha-haa. . .
>Fifty dollars a year just to play online multiplayer in games you already paid for on a console you already paid for
>oh, and here are some shitty rentals
>100% optional and completely free
>a bonus for playing video games
>doesn't act as a paywall in any fashion
>Nets you free games and sometimes nifty physical rewards
Yeah the rewards have been extremely shitty this year, but in the end it's not like you're paying money for them.
>b-but muh 600 dollars to Platinum!! Stinky Nintendpoop!
That money was used to buy video games, not specifically for the purpose of getting coins to download roms.
Just put on another country bro.
Im from Chile and i set my console to Usa cuz we get the Usa codes. I use a courier box to get the physical rewards and get the codes instantly.
>go to Gamestop
>make no purchases
There, no purchase necessary. And besides, even when buying games, it's a free bonus. You don't pay 60 bucks for 60 coins, you pay 60 bucks for the game and the coins are an optional bonus.
I like to own the things I pay for, thank you very much.
if you want to bring your dong everywhere it worth it plus like 8 new levels, if you want another game of the list pass
>autist walks in and picks up all the popular games for maximum status
>kid hears that X game gives extra codes
>goes to gamestop to buy the game
>gets home and inputs the code
>it's been used by some cheap faggot
And you guys call sony fans niggers.
I'm not saying I do it myself, just saying you don't have to actually spend money to get CN rewards.
And that kid deserves to get shit on for shopping at Gamestop anyway. Doubly so if he did it purely for CN points.
WELL THE YEARS START COMING AND THEY DON'T STOP COMING
FED TO THE RULES AND I HIT THE GROUND RUNNING
FUCK YOU IN THE ASS TILL THE CUM STARTS RUNNIN
>"s-sorry for trying something new guys."
Fuck you Nintendo. It takes a shitload of money to get platinum. Give me an actual game like W101 or even Pikmin 3, not fucking old games that I can buy for 20 bucks or emulate it.
YOUR BRAIN GETS SMART BUT YOUR HEAD GETS DUMB
Only one thing can save this thread now.
post some Kong Dong codes!
FUCK nintendo. I have nearly every single one of these except fluidity & Kid Icarus.
that being said I don't own all of these on the respective console they're giving you them on, but this non-emulation methods
SO WHAT'S WRONG WITH TAKING THE BACKSTREETS?
You'll get digital deluxe points for these games right?
I'm 67 points away from another 5 dolla and I can't tell if I don't get points or if the website is just being slow
YOU NEVER KNOW IF YOU DON'T GO
>Ameritards whining their Club Nintendo awards are shit
>Meanwhile in Britbong
fucking entitled manchildren, you've had it better than the rest of us for years.
And you cant use your "y-you guys got one free game deal" argument which happended fucking ages ago and you've had atleast twice
stop posting these fucking childish threads
I'm interested in Fluidity too. but sadly, I was only able to obtain Gold status. ;_;
any PlatinumBro wanna send me a code for it, feel free.
YOU NEVER SHINE IF YOU DON'T GLOW
>Not getting your princess peach relaxation set
HEY NOW, YOU'RE AN ALL STAR
Look at the rewards page of my country.
club nintendo looks weird when its green.
not good enough nintendo. you broke my heart. now go make another console, with good new hardware and normal controllers! no gimmicks!. then maybe i'll come back....
I am using a USA account. That's not the point. Americans complain that they don't get as much physical stuff like Euros, but other countries can't even get shit at all. That's entitlement.
Again missing the point, I guess I expected too much from a Chilean.
boo-fucking-hoo i have no physical rewards, i'll cry on 4chan that'll show nintendo for sure
boo-fucking-hoo i dont have club ninendo, i'll cry on 4chan that'll show americans and nintendo for sure!
Oh fuck, those posters are great. Forgot which were in the set
>Minis on the Move
Both were rewards later on CN, expect the Eliter rewards this year to come to CN too
>Where would you rank this year's rewards compared to previous years?
Absolute garbage, completely baffling
So who is going to give it hard to Nintendo and take advantage of Best Buy's Buy 1 Get 1 free deal?
Mario Golf and Mario Party for me since I have the others or not interested in them.
Since I'm only gold and don't have a Wii U, the only choices are Metroid and DK3.
Fuck you Nintendo.
>opt into sony program, pay $50 a year and get 72 modern games as a thank you
>opt into nintendo program, pay $500 a year and get 1 20-year old game as a thank you
Nintoddlers will defend this.
>Buy a 1 year PS plus for $50
>Get a few "free" digital indie games
>If you do not renew membership you lose everything
>Buy 10 $60 full retail physical copies
>Get a nice little reward for filling serves from them
>Still have all 10 games plus bonus
Wow so out of all 72 games released, you don't like any of them? Jesus christ jump into a bubbling cauldron filled with my hate would you please?
>Anon says something on an anonymous imgae board
>HE MUST BE RIGHT
The games you download have an experation date on them, so even if you are offline you still wont be able to access them.
The only things you keep are items you paid for, including games that were discounted. Anything free is lost.
I'm playing medievil from when the PSN was down nintoddler, what that means is that if you did not have PS+ while lets say persona was out and you get PS+ the following month you obviously don't get that game since you were not a member during the month persona was out. I guess reading is hard for someone who is 12.
>spending $600 for roms that can be emulated even on a fucking PSP
Sort of this.
Why the fuck do they bother with console exclusive VC games? The 3DS can play Legend of Zelda and Mario, but not fucking Kid Icarus, Ice Climbers, or Earthbound? Are you shitting me? They released Ocarina of Time for 3DS and it can't even emulate NES games?
>people are actually defending this shit
I like to think most of the time the "fanboys" that spout the most retarded bullshit are the ones that try to make themselves look bad so the "other side" looks better.
The VC isnt that simple.
They had to rebuild the entire thing from scratch for HD on the wii u and whats on the 3ds is specifically tailored for always having 2 screens and its small size.
A VC game is NOT just a rom and emulator.
It a specifically tuned emulator made specifically for that game to work at maximum accuracy.
The massive difference in software and hardware make it very difficult to "just slap it on another platform"
>Spend a bunch of money on nintendo games
>Get shit games
>I-it's okay guys because it's nintendo
>Spend 50 dollars
>Get way over 50 dollars worth of games in a year
>SONY IS SHIT WHY WOULD ANYONE PAY 50 DOLLARS FOR PLAYSTATION PLUS
Fun so far. Seems like 60 levels altogether. No 3D since you have to rotate the 3DS. If you liked Fluidity, you'll like this one. Lots of things to collect, from puzzle pieces to water to collecting 5 stars in all levels
The first game was on the Wii
>spend over 500 dollary doos
>for the opportunity to do Nintendo's job for them
>get a digital port of an ancient game, the choice of which is terrible
And people legitimately defend this. Whats more, these same shiteaters shitpost every psn thread with how ps+ is a scam
>Every single Nintendo Club Platinum Rewards thread
This is why companies should never give free stuff to anyone for any reason. No one is ever satisfied with what they get; they always want more.
You're not spending 600 just for the reward. You're spending 600 for the console and games that you want to play on and with, the reward is extra.
The program incentivizes buying new and giving feedback on games that you would have bought regardless of any reward program, not so you can throw money away and bank on a stellar reward later.
Free didn't appear in my post. The reward is free, the games you paid to get the reward are not. You're not buying games for the rewards, you're buying the games to play the games. If you bought games you wouldn't have normally bought because you earned points towards a reward, you fucked up.
I'm not defending the shitty VC rewards, by the way.
Doesnt matter, your "free" game is tied into a charge. If you have to pay any amount of money to gain access to a game, where access to that game wouldnt have been possible without spending money, it isnt free.
That's all there is to it.
>not finding discounts and ways to earn plenty of points
With Intend to Buy and the follow-up surveys you can blaze through, you can rack up much more points. Hell, MK8 earned me 170+ points with DDP. If you got the MK8 Wii U bundle, you could've gotten Gold and like 3-4 VC titles thrown in altogether.
Yes, it works perfect on most games.
Some games don't work well, like Mario Kart, StarFox and Cybernator, but 98% of the games were playable and beatable.
Latest firmware of the flashcart is compatible with the latest upgrade of the 3ds, btw.
I honestly don't understand.
haven't got one yet btw. c'mon /v,/ help a poor anon.
You don't have to buy them. If you are a regular customer, you would have bought them anyways because you enjoy them. You buy them individually and enjoy them individually. Then, on your 10th visit, which you would have paid for without the free punch card, you have a free sandwich.
Why do you insist on allocating costs incorrectly?
No cause you had to buy 9 sandwiches to get the tenth. If you walked into subway and they offered you a slice of a sandwich as a sample with no cost or strings attached, that is free.
Why would I buy a console with no games I want to play just to download a rerelease of a game I already have? If I wanted to play it on a tv I'd play it on my SNES or hacked wii
