Has someone played "The Letter"? It's a recent horror visual novel that seems to be pretty good, and I heard there is a romance between 2 of the female protagonists. I want to know how relevant that relationship is and if you think if the game is worth playing.

from the information in the steam group discussions, it's potentially enjoyable but with some big pitfalls to look out for

there's a lot of Tragic Dead Lesbian Angst in the backstories, and while you can get two of the female characters together in one ending, on the true ending route they both end up dead

Neither of which should be a huge surprise if you look at the genre of game that is, but it will turn off some /u/ members

Funny how straight tragic deaths never seem to be a big thing. So the West is obsessed with lesbians dying or breaking up while Japan just loves making lesbians villains like in Granblue and tons of series before that. Well fuck this game then I mean I don't mind lesbian or any gay characters dying but when there are so few stories revolving around lesbians having them repeatedly die is getting really trite.

I'm basing this on /u/ game recommendation. Fate and GBF pander to almost everyone, not just yurifags. Just because they have canon lesbians and there are subtext here and there doesn't mean they should be good enough to be put on the list. It's fine if the self-insert is an afterthought (ie Love Live and BanG Dream). I'm not even sure who the optional het is for since it is fifty times less fleshed out than the gay relationship and the entire plot is centered around the two gay characters starting five minutes in. You go off on these adventures with a lesbian constantly and then the dude shows up for a minute or two here and there before leaving.

If anything it feels like the het is a minor part only in the game because some people demanded it. Even in Max's psyche the dude is a creep, regardless of how you interact with him in the game.

There's no romantic tension between Max and Warren even if you picked all the choices favoring the guy. The optional choice to kiss him was more like a reward or pity than anything romantical involved because Max knew she was going to jump into another timeline and everything was going to be erased anyway.
Hell, they're barely best friends give the short amount of time they know each other.

Then why in everybody's playthrough Max still brings up love word when mentioning Chloe in the last page of her journal? Why according to her own words she felt a physical pain in the heart by seeing Chloe flirting with other people?
Her romantic inclinations are towards Chloe no matter how you play, even if you deny Chloe the kiss Max says she wishes she kissed her. It's clear that Max is a written character and not someone for the character to entirely define, the players only offers her advice at times. You cannot change Max's feelings or thoughts.

From Max's pov, Max gets jealous of Rachel and indepenant of your actions she really means it as romantic way since she was being insecure about Chloe's seeing her in future, and phone background. She wants to kiss her or regrets that she didn't also writes this on her journal.

Even if you avoided from kiss which makes Max's feelings blurry, Max still takes Chloe's kissing with other people in nightmare as her fear, insecurity and still has guts to bring up love word and questioning it.She slowly realizes it throughout the game, if you avoid from kissing her for example, she says she regretted that didn't, after the nightmare, she questions what's she feeling was love because got physically hurt by seeing her kissing with other people.

I don't think a prequel would impact the story of S1 in a negative way. The point of Before the Storm is that you'll get to know more about Chloe's past after Max moved to Seattle and also we'll finally meet the mysterious Rachel Amber (kinda like the Laura Palmer of LiS universe)
There's also the Farewell episode which will give us a chance to play as Max for the last time.

A true sequel (i.e continuation of Max's story) will never happen since the devs don't want to declare one ending or another canon and in many interviews they've said that if a second season were to happen it would feature a new set of characters and possibly no relations with the first game, which is what's going to happen.

Thing is, many people didn't like Fire Walk With Me because it got rid of the intrigue. Instead of guessing who Laura really was and piecing together clues from people she interacted with, learning that one person can act vastly different in different situations, waiting in anticipation for the reveal, etc., it just tells you the whole story, plain and simple.
From what I've seen, Before the Storm is going to do the exact same thing. And I really don't see the point in doing it. It's perfectly okay to not show and explain every little bit of the story. It's fine to leave characters' backstories in the past and not go back to them.

Yep. It's basically a retro Zelda that's light on action and heavy on puzzles. The plot is pretty minimal, but most of the focus is on the relationship between the heroine and the mysterious robot girl who lost her memories. Also, if you beat the game and reload your clear save file, the normal loading screen is replaced with a cute greeting from your girlfriend.

From all the promotional art I expected this is the case. It's not a deal breaker for me though, I really like Taohua's design. I wouldn't mind at least subtext between other couples though.
