If we would predict it going yuri by the author/writer past track than the artist we would have zero chance for it, at least Shitsurakuen artist gave us one yuri pairing from his manga, the author of Kakegurui didn't have a single yuri character end in any of his past works so far.

Now about your line of speculation in particular, not everybody feels the same way you do. I'm much more open to authors who had never made yuri before compared to authors who have made offensive yuri. Yuri to me is simply a genre. I don't refuse reading a psychological manga just because the author had only written romance before, but I might refuse to read if he/she had written dogshit psychological stuff before.

I'm fairly sure that the author is just giving shipping potential for Jabami x everybody, though the MC sucks. He's a lame excuse that almost solely exists so that the viewers/readers don't get overwhelmed by the "good" gamblers. Now the episodes have gone as far as making Mari a sympathetic anti-hero, she should probably take over the leading role (as Jabami is literally insane, she can't lead the series except as an interesting deuteragonist). In fact ep 4 + 5 MC was virtually written out and I hope it stays that way.
