On this day, 22/7, it was announced that 22/7- Akimoto's Pet Idol Project with Horiguchi Chara Design is getting an anime. Sooner then anticipated!

Still waiting for that T7s anime.

Anyday now.

This almost seems like paid advertising at one point

The Hype machine began to move in October of last year or even before, I honestly hope they do things right

We have a number of characters, that's strange, considering the tendency to always deliver an odd number, Although I think it is too early to sign that this will be relevant to us, have been other projects that have not been and no one remembers them (except people who enjoy how others fail)

I didn't expect this gambling animu to have better tension and more exciting battles than nearly any action show I've seen.
>>
>>2386755
It is an odd number now. They added 3 more seiyu who are likely also Idols. I just hope none of them have to shave their head.

Did some research and Los Angeles girl seems really interesting, cause she was brought up in America and can speak fluent English. Definitely something that makes her stand out more than the others.
>>
>>2386695
Didn't the devs say they didn't want an anime? You'd need more than mere wishing for it to happen.
>>
>>2386930
I'm liking it quite a bit so far, just hope it doesn't get stale and formulaic, since the structure of every episode involves someone cheating at a game and Yumeko figuring out what they're doing.

I'm looking for more yuri VN suggestions with a heavy comedic focus, JP is completely fine.

The two examples I can give so far of what I'm talking about that I really enjoyed are:

- Color of White (sistercest VN with heavy gags and funny situations to go with the heartwarming scenes)

- Limit Panic! (somehow is comedy and horror at the same time, with bad ends galore)

imo it's teasing between the two leads but there is /u/ between two of the antagonists. These things aren't the main focus, and any het less so. I also found the spin-off with Mary was more /u/ friendly as there's not a male third wheel. Raws in the previous thread. Overall the series is enjoyable with lots of blushing and crazy eyes.

I started reading Ikkitousen because it was tagged as yuri. However, so far it's just weird with an incoherent story and full of hetshit, random submissive girls throwing themselves at random guys to pleasure them. Looks like I was rused. What a waste of time.
>>
>>2387466
It's one of those mainly hetshit series with tons of retarded male fanservice to end up with two or three yurish pairings.
It's like Negima except Ikkitousen is 100x times more painful to watch and none of their pairings compare to Konoka and Setsuna.
>>
>>2387472
Thanks for the explanation. Yeah, I am not someone who can wade through a ton of shit just for some nice side dishes so I will stay away from both.
>>
>>2387466
I think I remember some anon saying there was a canon yuri couple late in the story but my take on it was that it wouldn't be worth reading for the yuri
>>
>>2387466
If I remember, the one actual lesbian character in Ikkitousen was raped and committed double suicide with her bisexual lover.
>>
>>2387498
Even worse.

I absolutely hate hetshit rape. Now I am glad I didn't try to stick through to the end.
>>
>>2387496
Early on would be Ryoufu and Chinkyuu. They're canon but it ends badly, especially in the manga. Later on there's another Kan'u and Ryuubi. It's a bit similar to Konoka and Setsuna in it being a body guard crush but not nearly as satisfying. Plus there's so much terrible plot to get through, I really wouldn't advise the read or watch of it.
>>
>>2387500
What a shame. It always annoys me that such shit gets over a hundred chapters and several anime seasons + OVAs when there are so many more deserving candidates.

I just got back a few days ago and yes it has, although not to the same extent. It wouldn't be too hard to find them in stores and stuff, but from what I've seen they weren't nearly as obsessive over them.
>>
>>2387185
I'm curious. Is this the cover for a YayoIori doujin or something? The top bit is throwing me off a bit. Even if it's not I do know that they have more yuri doujins than what we've got scanned though. It's just that no one bothered to buy them and scan it since yuri is pretty niche and generally only the most popular series and pairings get that kind of treatment. It wold be great if there was some way of track down and buy doujins of the less popular pairings since I'm sure everyone has some niche couple they would like to see more of. Although I'm sure super niche and crack couples wouldn't even have any doujins to begin with. Their fans would probably be used to that though.
>>

I am reading a yuri manga right now with attempted het gang rape and the rapists implying they have done this several times before.

I hate this kind of shit. If this was real life they would have gotten locked away just for attempt. But no, it's a manga, so they get away with this shit. And of course the victims don't call the police or anything.

Why do people keep thinking it's a good idea to add rape with no consequences? And why is there so much fucking rape going on? Japan is supposed to have very low crime rates. Adding muuh rape just to add shallow drama really ruins otherwise good manga for me.
>>
>>2387691
Because it's a cheap way to make you care about characters or hate the rapists.
I dislike it, too, but Japan is not the only one doing it. It was pretty common on western works in the past, too.

What manga, by the way?

>thinking anyone ever gets arrested for rape in Japan
It's true that Japan does have low official crime rates. You need to look into it more to find out what is really going on.
>>
>>2387725
I heard about sexual harrasment not even being registred so they can keep their crime rates low.
I'm sure that doesn't apply to actual rape, though, otherwise they would extend it to any serious crimes.

But then again, even on west rape victims are usually afraid to denounce it. That's probably worse on Japan because of their society.

Although it's probably true that rape is more frequent on USA than Japan.
>>
>>2387725
In spite of that, Japan most likely does have lower sexual crime rates compared to most other countries though.

So I've only been part of /u/ for 3 years or so and I was wondering what the link was between Erica (that yuri reviewer) and the scanlation group Lililicious. Is there a connection or am I imagining people mentioning that the two are somehow connected?
>>
>>2387804
Ancient history most likely. Like middle of the last decade
>>
>>2387804
It's ancient history but from what I understand Erica was trying to sell books and began trash talking people because no one was buying them. Probably blaming it on "loser fanboys" for having shit taste or something and alienating all but the diehard followers.
>>
>>2387726
>>2387736
It's impossible to compare since you're talking about a crime that's notorious under-reported and even defined differently. For instance Sweden has a high report, but they define rape very broadly and count every instance of it as a separate crime (so if the same woman is sexually abused over a year by the same man, each violation is counted separately) while another country may categorize some of the same instances as one rape or not even a rape at all.
>>2387804
Once upon a time, Lililicious was the only yuri scanlation group out there. Erica was friends with them and supported their scanlations and even posted scanlated stuff herself on her site. Then Erica decided to go full anti-scanlation with blah blah the usual holier than thou reasons which came down to fear of LE and economics.

If you like the setting of a lot of fighting women set in Three Kingdoms with actual yuri, the most tolerable is Koihime Muso anime. Not the VNs, that has the male MC. But they removed it in the anime. It has plenty of fighting, the plot is far more tolerable, most of the yuri is fanservice but then there are actual canon yuri couples. Still kind of trashy but more light-hearted and fun.

So this guy is a pathetic useless loser, yet she is all over him. I hate this kind of shit.

I actually came across Kakegurui because the one who does the art has done Shitsurakuen. That one had a promising start but turned into a complete shitfest. Might be why he only does the art now, not the story.

Any thoughts?
>>
>>2388452
I can't say I'm looking forward to it since past media appropriations of fairy tales that I have watched or read have been less then stellar.

MAR was arguably an older isekai, although it gets brownie points for being more original then half the generic fantasy worlds out there today, it still had a boring Gary Stu MC. OUAT drags on it's story arcs well past their welcome.

The fact that this story is already treading well-known grounds (Cinderella? Everyone knows that) rather then something more relatively obscure like Gigantic Turnip doesn't help.

There were many sets of children's fairy tale books I read as a kid, and Turnip was in enough of those that I felt it wasn't obscure.

I haven't heard of Der Freischütz but I have heard of The Bamboo Cutter. I'm also well aware that most of these fairy tales have been watered down. I remember Sleeping Beauty was fucked and gave birth to a child while still sleeping for example. But there are many versions of these tales anyway.

It's been like a year since I've read Kindred Spirits. Should I go back and reread it right now, or wait for the fully-voiced version? Liar-soft hasn't said anything about the status of it since March, so I have no idea how long I should expect it to take.

Surely it couldn't take that long to voice all the lines? Maybe a month or two of various recording sessions? How long do things like this usually take?

Is a piece of written or animation fiction be considered as yuri that features a bisexual biological woman as main character?

Take NTR for example: Hotaru is a bisexual because she fucks both genders.
>>
>>2389804
Hotaru is not the main character.
>>
>>2389804
There really is no rule that draws a hard line between a show having yuri elements and a show being firmly in the yuri genre, it all depends on the focus and presentation. Kuzu no Honkai had two girls having sex but I'd bet a lot of money on people not calling it a yuri show.
>>
>>2389804
If romance between girls is the key focus, then yes. There's not a lot of romance drama yuri series (at least in the long running side) where both main characters start off as 100% lesbian. One is either pretty much a blank slate who's never really given much thought about sexuality, or starts off either being in a straight relationship or having had bad experiences of being in one (the latter gives us plenty of lesbian mom stories).

I'd say it depends on how it ends. A story about a girl who used to date guys (and even sleep with them) but ultimately finds happiness with another girl is definitely yuri to me. I prefer stories without that sort of thing, but I wouldn't exclude them from yuri because of that.

The analogy with porn isn't accurate, since in that the straight sex is treated as something meant to titillate the viewer and what they're looking for from the porn, instead of just something to create conflict and adversity for the lesbian couple to overcome.

I actually agree with you, specially about Mai Otome. But keep in mind that at the time Mai Hime aired, there wasn't much yuri or subtext anime. OK. Well if we're getting serious:

>>
>>2390453
>I don't think things have changed that much.

Canon yuri, maybe not. But shows focusing on girls with heavy subtext are more common nowadays. There's at least one by season. In those times it was one by year with luck.

And in the end, that's what Mai Hime was. Sure Shizuru was a lesbian, but Natsuki never really reciprocate directly and it was all implied. Again, subtext.
>>
>>2390458
>anime that didn't have male protagonists were rare as fuck a decade ago
I thought the magical girl genre flourished in the 90s. Also, a decade ago is after Mai Hime aired and during the time of the greats Simoun and Blue Drop.

Don't forget, Maria-sama aired before Mai Hime in the same year. While not exactly 'yuri', Kaleido Star also aired just a year before Mai Hime, and this series is a prime example of outstanding anime with fantastic female MC, who - basically the opposite of Mai Hime - declines a relationship with a loser guy. Honestly, I think Kaleido Star can be acceptable for /u/ standards because it has a ton of girl relationships, just not the sexual kind. Not that this is any different in Nanoha or Madoka which are massively popular here.

So yeah, I don't accept the excuse of "there just was nothing else". A lot of great anime aired in those years.

Cross Ange is very bad, much more so than Mai Hime. And how exactly Cross Ange is yuri when the MC girl gets canonically fucked and there are no serious yuri couples is beyond me. In Mai Hime there is barely even a kiss between MC girl and her lover and the yuri couple is very serious.

I can see why Mai Hime is popular because it really had some very solid good points. And if the shitty romance drama doesn't bother someone, they would love it. However, Cross Ange is just plain garbage in pretty much every aspect.

Find something better than CA is not a merit, but CA is a considerably bad Anime

Not only for being a vulgar bait in all aspects, but also a terrible story, ugly wicks, suits that were supposed to be exciting but ended up looking ridiculous and much more

The people give Mai-Hime the credit he does not deserve and on the other hand they make him shit that does not deserve to Otome

In general terms Otome is a better Anime than Hime, may have a terrible love triangle, but has a universe and more interesting characters

It was also Precure who helped make the genre of magical girls relevant again

I find funny people attacking Love Live and blaming that Anime for lack of Mai-series, when thanks to Love Live is that we do not have to support a complete series of Accel World
>>
I hope you all enjoyed the game. Now foward to Sunday.

>and there are no serious yuri couples

You probably did not even google the show.
>>
>>2390795
No there are not
The end I stupidly leave in clear the "couple" they all praise, it's just "friends" said by one of them
When you look at those who were the Seiyuus of the "couples" understand that this really was serious with the bait
>>
>>2390797
Chris and Rosalie are a couple by the end, non-english speaker.
>>
>>2390800
They are not, that's my damn problem with the end
The only couple is Tusk and Ange
I hate you Fukuda, you became a perfectly average Anime in a incoherent piece of shit

Here is some context.
>>
>>2390873
Background deal with Sunrise trying to do an all-girls mecha story and instead of new girls, base it off the existing im@s popularity. Everything was done completely differently. Although it did have some yuri, more than any Idolm@ster main series what with a love/hate thing between MC and main villain (even naked sharing a bedroll and also coincidentally) and another character being a giant lesbo willing to do anything for the main villain.
Coincidentally, all three of the Xenoglossia characters I'm mentioning have among the biggest yuri reps as far as Idolm@ster goes.

All that said, it was a pretty shitty anime.
>>
>>2390884
also coincidentally a couple with one of the oldest shippings in Idolm@ster*
OK I'm tired, no more posting for me

I think there were complaints of the game graphics

Really I hated CA appeared in SRW, made me wonder how much corruption is in the Anime industry

Looking at the page of Regalia in MAL, look at VA in English
How did this Anime get dubbed?
>>
>>2390797
>No there are not
>The end I stupidly leave in clear the "couple" they all praise, it's just "friends" said by one of them

Am I misremembering something because I'm pretty sure the gay couple was involved in several blatant yuri 3-ways (and maybe 4-ways?) early in the show and then later had some super dramatic "I love you" scene in the middle of a fight?
>>
>>2390907
I think that did not happen, the fight was pretty bad too (There is some declaration of friendship, no special friendship, just friendship)
The first if I pass, but only sex is the same type of Yuri that you find tagged in Ex-hentai and in the end Hilda is Friendzoned
>>
>>2390907
>Am I misremembering something because I'm pretty sure the gay couple was involved in several blatant yuri 3-ways (and maybe 4-ways?) early in the show and then later had some super dramatic "I love you" scene in the middle of a fight?

You are correct.
>>
>>2390908
You clearly did not watch the show. The two became a couple in the end and there was a lot of pure yuri sex between characters who only show interest in girls.
>>
>>2390908
>Hilda is Friendzoned
Well I definitely remember Ange pinning Hilda to a wall and making out with her, then telling her she has a place in her world, so that's not true. Though the story does sideline her after that Hilda still fucked three other women and developed an intense crush on a fourth that didn't end totally badly for her.

The way the scene went down for whoever the other two was something like them fighting and one diving out of her cockpit to tackle the other midair, to declare that they loved them I believe. Like she didn't care if she died as long as the other girl knew she loved her instead of hating her. I don't remember which episode it was or I would find it.

The only parts of the show that really hurt if you're looking for yuri that I can remember is Tusk being a faggot and making Ange bi instead of just gay. Tusk is pretty fucking terrible in every single aspect anyway.

Also if girls having sex while in a "friendship" isn't yuri then what the fuck is.
>>
>>2390919
>Well I definitely remember Ange pinning Hilda to a wall and making out with her, then telling her she has a place in her world, so that's not true.

If promotional pictures are anything to go by Ange and Hilda probably fucked after the events of the anime. Not exactly a happy yuri end but Hilda keeps being gay.

The top bit was ripped from DuelingNetwork, an online Yugioh simulator before it was shut down for copyright violations. Yugioh, for those who don't play it, is yet another Japanese TCG that originated from a manga but has grown very popular. I'd estimate it's 100 times bigger then Wixoss.

I thought it was a funny coincidence so I screencapped it and combined it with the first good YayoIori pic I found. Now that DN has been shut down for good, it's doubles as a souvenir.
>>
>>2386597
What do you want to see in the 22/7 anime other then Yuri and no Producers?

I know it isn't yuri, but I was wondering if the Princess Jellyfish manga should be avoided for those who are heterophobic?
