Thanks, this is fantastic! I've only watched the anime, so I never cared much for Sister Nana and Winterprison who barely had any screentime before dying pointlessly. Never realised that they had backstory in the LN, much less a detailed account of how absolutely dense Nana was while Winterprison was doing her best to court her. Is there more of them in the LNs?

Also, I was quite surprised by how coherent this chapter was compared to the writing in many other LNs I've read. It practically seems to have been written in English rather than translated from Japanese, so props to you if the natural-sounding prose was your doing.

Are the rest of the Mahoiku LNs like this too? I've been holding off on reading them because I figured they'd be kind of a pain to get through.

Unfortunately there has been a bit of drama regarding translations for this series. They were originally translated by a guy named PlatFleece until we found out how shoddy a lot of translations were, thus having a group of anons come forward in his stead. The OP of the thread linked the novels that have been translated well and similarly to the Weiss/Nana you've just read. I'd definitely recommend checking out all of the links listed there! Since the renewed translations aren't all the way caught up, here is Plat's if you wanted to look further in: https://drive.google.com/drive/u/0/folders/0BwUphuy8AsxEVDJfaXJrcHdMVU0. Take it with a grain of salt though. They're not as detailed but he is trying to "revise" them of mistakes now.

Nana and WP are present in the background of a couple of stories in Episodes (Nemurin's Adventure, The Robot and the Nun) and briefly mentioned in others. However, this is the one story that is exclusively for them.

In general, they suffer from insufficient characterization since Unmarked was pretty much the only 1-volume arc (Jokers was twice the length of the average MGRP LN and Aces and Queens are technically part of the same meta-arc).

I'm glad you liked it; in general I'll do my best to TL whatever the baidu people put out.
