I think that Urara might win, actually. Yoshimura has joked on Twitter that in Murcielago's world the #1 strongest creature to walk the Earth is the african elephant, and #2 is a tie between the white rhinoceros and Urara.

This is in regards to situations where weapons aren't used and she's prepared for the fight. Her weaknesses are opponents who use weapons, being taken by surprise, and long-range attacks.

He also mentioned that, incidentally, the strongest character in a situation where weapons are allowed hasn't appeared yet.

The bomber girl (Minako) was raped by the bullies twice, once when blindfolded by the whole group, and once by their leader (Fuuri) afterwards as extra humiliation. But she could tell it was Fuuri who did it the first time so she fell in love with her as she took her virginity. After the whole fiasco Kuroko handed Fuuri over to the Minako to do as she pleased (rape her back) and that led to their current situation where the Fuuri is a pet/slave to Minako.

Murcielago is my favourite running series, but it definitly has some major flaws. The gratuitous violence throws a lot of people off, and Kuroko, while being a fun character, doesn't appeal to everybody because she doesn't have any real weakness that's been shown. I quite enjoy both those aspects of the series but I can see it discouraging a lot of potential readers.

The main theme that we've gotten to work with for most of the actual supersoldier-type serial killers we've seen so far is that they have some kind of code to killing. There's definitely supposed to be a discrepancy between the random serial killers Kuroko was offing early in the series and the people we are led to believe are truly strong, "professional" killers like Kuroko, Conrad, or Reiko.

Conrad, in particular, brings this up when meeting the man in charge of the Murder Party. He asks him what his "Killing Rule" is and when the man says he doesn't know what he's talking about he becomes enraged. It's obvious that someone like Kuroko (and Conrad) likely follow some preset rule or code to their killings. Ties in well with Kuroko's initial interaction where she says she won't kill Hinako because there's no value in it.

Kuroko is a monster with no remorse for the people she kills but that's likely because she's just following her code. Conrad is also unlikely bothered by his (presumed) killings and we can assume the strongest characters that we haven't run into yet are similar. I imagine one of the reasons for Ringo's father asking Kuroko to take Ringo under her wing (and Kuroko accepting) is to give Ringo a focus for her talents and make her a stronger killer with a specific goal and code instead of being just a serial killer. Mindwiped Terumi might be similar to Reiko, as he was obviously talented but I don't think he had a real focus.

We don't exactly know Kuroko's killing rule for sure but it's likely some combination of "people who deserve to die" / "what killings will benefit and consolidate my situation going further" although the "hundreds" of kills she racked up prior to the series start really muddy the waters here. The only one we know anything about is that she killed Hinako's parents, who were apparently evil people.

Whatever her code is, it's presumably fucking odd. The first shots we get of her killing people seem to mostly be thrill killings, unless somehow each of these people aligned with what you speak of. I think her talk of "merit" in killing might be more along the lines that she doesn't kill blindly and instead only kills when ti would be interesting, like killing one half of a couple, seen here.

I don't think so, she seems to be wearing some sort fancy uniform (maybe highschool or university? Yoshimura's definitely drawn younger people wiht honkers just as large.)

Considering how she acted around the maid when they first battled, and how she seems to only be killing the man, her plans in this case could be very dark indeed.

Did we ever have confirmation that was her thing, though? I saw that as just incidental to her huge murderlust, naturally she eventually crossed paths with the Yakuza but her motivation definitely isn't money and a lot of her backstory quotes seems to imply she generally killed at her own pace, rather than at command, especially her implications of having a merit system. She's just doing this current job for the government since she has to, and even then she seems to enjoy bending the rules to kill people.

I really doubt it, the series has been making a point since the very beginning that Kuroko's rotten to the core, the idea of her only killing bad people is a bit silly, especially since the entire premise of the story is that now that she's a Public Executioner she can ONLY kill criminals. I took Hinako saying Kuroko only killed her parents because they were bad either as misinterpretation of her character or as a slight degree of stockholm syndrome.


Lady's also an implied rapist and half-time pedophile, so there narrative's definitely gonna bend over its back to say she was Good And Only Killed The Bad Mens.

Caught up on this recently (previously I'd read up through the cult), and I have to say that it's kind of refreshing how Kuroko is explicitly a terrible, terrible person. During the whole bombergirl thing I was kind of conditioned to expect that she'd give some kind of harsh emotional advice or something, standard antihero stuff, but no, she murders the bullies, encourages bombergirl to rape the surviving bully, and then gets her to help murder the teacher. Because of course she sees nothing wrong with that, why would she? She *actually* has no morality or redeeming features whatsoever.

Also I hope we get to see Conrad again.

I have a question:
I read the German version and have a question about Hinako.
Can it be that Hinako changes her "essence" (or whatever it is called) as soon as she sees blood on her own?
In the amusement park sequence as Ringo her the cut inflicted, changed Hinako abruptly. Or does it have something to do with Hinako's past?
It also seems as if the policeman Tsurugi Hinakos change wasn't seen for the first time.

Some interesting things: Reiko's back scar seems related to an incident Toki was involved with or caused, there's mention of a little sister who I'm not sure if she's Toki's or Reiko's, and it seems Reiko doesn't even have electricity because she sees it as wasteful.

I'm not sure that her and Toki are a real couple. Toki seems to take care of her, because Reiko also accuses her of only coming over during the day to create a scenario that would lead to sex.
