What kind of things do you guys like to see in yuri material? Like everybody has things they DISLIKE but I want to know what kind of stuff you guys actually like.

Personally I've got a weak spot for delinquent girls. Brash, crass, hardheaded girls, not necessarily tomboys, just tough girls. The Real Her, Love/Death, Notes from the Garden of Lilies, etc.

That last one ties into my other nomination, girls with scary faces. Hana to Hoshi was good for that.

As for drug laws, it depends where it is. From what I've read some European countries (Denmark, Netherlands) have a looser policy. If you happen to be in Asia especially Singapore, Malaysia or China just pray you don't end up in the rope when caught with drugs.

Well, that's how usually is. Hibike, in its anime form, hasn't been like that, though. Its focus was Kumiko and Reina's relationship, to the point of altering romantic scenes that Shuichi did have in the novels. So, fearing a change of focus in the story to romance, that isn't even that important in the source material, seems bit silly.

Whatever you think of Kumiko and Reina's relationship, for the staff is nothing more than "a really close friendship" and that's the story they are telling. Everything else is just fluff to that.

There's a brief one-shot by Yukimura ("Armet") where one of the girls is a knight, but I don't think it's been translated (?). It's also too short for almost any knight stuff to happen.

There's also at least one light novel with a knight character (Itsuwari No Hime Wa Kishi To Odoru) but I never got around to finishing it. It was mostly political intrigue as far as I read.

I think there was also a side-character in Wild Bouquet who was a knight, but I can't really remember, it's been too long.

Their charm are in things like rule of cool and cute things. The kind of things you can't find it equal in western works.

That's why things like Mushishi are okay. Because they're actually really well written.

I still like not-yuri shows, though. But the options are getting limited, since I don't like male power fantasy and harem antics.

It's worse with games, since the wish fulfillment in them always annoyed me. I kinda like Tales of series because it doesn't focus on that, but things like Persona really upsets me.

The intentions of the anime committee is usually to increase sales of the source material. If it becomes a miracle hit like Infinite Stratos that's fine, but most of the time the anime's just an advertisement for the manga/light novels. The studio adapting it is usually paid in advance and has no strong attachment to the series if they aren't part of the production committee.
Since they keep doing this, it's reasonable to assume that either the model works, or they're too set in their ways to change it. I'd say it's a little of both.

Illya was so obsessed with the guy who "stole" her father that she started to love/hate him. Saber was "seduced" by Shirou's ideal on heroism. All are true in every single route.
