Patty Jenkins was first to direct (wanting her romantic angle), but dropped out over that. Alan Taylor (hot off GoT) came in, filmed his shit, but Marvel saw it and asked the Winter Soldier writer duo, as well as Joss Whedon, to come in and do rewrites. Taylor was also essentially kept out of final cuts. We all have seen where Taylor's career has gone and what Marvel has done since that movie.

They're all shit but Age of Ultron goes from not being just bad but insultingly stupid and shallow.

Thor 2. It would be Doctor Strange, but Tilda Swinton was excellent.

Iron Man 3, Incredible Hulk, and Ant-Man are the only ones that are painfully bad.

Thor 2 and Age of Ultron are just bland.

The rest are pretty watchable. Civil War, Avengers, Captain America 2, and GotG are guilty pleasures that I can watch any time.

Iron Man 2 was a fucking travesty compared to the first one, which is tied with Winter Soldier for the best Marvel movie in my opinion. Iron Man 3 gets a lot of shit, but it was at least funny and smart in places, and had great action scenes.
