Warner Bros. is part of this too. Plus, I feel they are behind much more of the film's production and advertising (at least online). When Sony takes a backseat to another company, they tend to be kept in check. Someone in another thread was bitching about ads showing up in the trailers; they were complaining of, "Sony getting their hands all over this already." But, aside from an ad for Sony itself in one trailer, the rest of the ads are from the original film itself. Some are defunct or virtually dead companies such as Pan-Am and Atari.

They are obviously building upon the world of the first film and, aside from a strong presence of action-y scenes and sort of bland interior cinematography, I feel this movie will be well taken care of. Hell, the set design in this second short make me very happy. It feels so much like the first; the level of grunge and despair mixed with neon feels very reminiscent of good Cyberpunk and the first film. Too many movies, especially those aping off of the ideas of the futuristic films of the 1980's, have forgotten how to pull off grungy feeling environments. Everything tends to feel too sterile and clean.

It will feel more like a film done by Warner Bros. than Sony. It will be very good. Not great. But very, very good.

I figured out what bothers me about this. The acting is good. The over the top action fight sequence...okay, i'll buy it, different directors. But..it's too clean. The original, in the street scenes, everything felt like it had a layer of filth, the clothes were tattered, everything felt like it was about to fall apart - this is too clean, too antisceptic. It has none of the feel of the crowds in the first one. And it's not contrasty enough. Ridley treats each frame like a painting. This feels like...just another blah movie, that's got no contrast, so everyone in the theater can see everything and nobody will complain "It's too dark!"
Blade Runner is supposed to be sci-fi film noir, not sci fi Marvel Comics.
