Godzilla (1954)
Mothra vs. Godzilla
Ghidorah - The Three Headed Monster
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1974)
Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1993)
And probably a couple others.

>Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla (1993)
Do you really believe this? If nothing else Biollante is the best of the Heisei movies.
>>87523571
Yes. I think it's my favorite after the original.
>>87523648
Oh. Could you share why? It's my first time seeing this opinion.
kiryu shits on that mechagodzilal

Music, all fights between the monsters (even if it's a bit of a beam spam like always in the second series), Junior Godzilla done the right way, Brodan.
That weird ptero-copter is too much though.
>>87523890
definitely a better design

I also got a soft spot for Mechagodzilla II. I don't really like Heisei overall, so when I watched the movie with low expectations, my reaction was "it's not that bad", and that pleasant surprise kinda stuck with me. I realize this sounds like damning with faint praise.
But the music's outstanding, effects are okay apart from a few rough spots, characters are bearable, the monster plot's interesting and allows for nice development for the monsters, and the story is fairly straightforward and not bogged down by an overwritten, overpopulated script, which some other Heisei films suffer majorly from. Though there's this theme of life against artificial life, the film's not too heavy on social/political/environmental/philosophical messages, and after shit like Godzilla vs Mothra, that's downright refreshing.

I haven't seen Biollante yet. I'd say the best Godzilla movie has to be Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla.
>>87523333
Return the mediocre, Biollante is shit.
>>87523333
I haven't seen them all. Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla is my favorite so far. I also love Godzilla 2000, Terror of Mechagodzilla.

>Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla is my favorite so far.
Seriously? It's not even the best of the Millennium Era. GMK holds that honor. But I would love to get a compelling argument otherwise.

>I haven't seen them all
>my favorite so far
And I haven't seen GMK. I wouldn't mind watching it in the future though.
>>87525994
These are objectively the best.

Didn't you find it awkward how the movie tried to make Godzilla sympathetic in the third act and MechaGodzilla the antagonist? Even the characters share this sentiment. It's odd because Godzilla is still clearly the villain here. Return of Godzilla is also guilty of this.

I like this movie but its really overrated. Literally no good action.

shin
what are the most visually appealing godzilla movies?
>>87528462
Godzilla vs the Smog Monster or whatever its called is visually trippy. Otherwise I'd say Shin.
>>87528462
Godzilla vs. Hedorah, no contest. It's a technicolor, acid-trip nightmare.
>>87528441
>Literally no good action.
Huh? It has just as much as the other Heisei movies.

Thank you very much boyos, gonna giva gozdilla movie a shot

Been a long time, but I don't recall Godzilla coming off that villain-y. He just wanted a kid to be left alone with, while the humans were actively out to kill him. I actually really like how his victory at the end is shown in a triumphant way. The movie plays with flipping perspectives effectively, and by the end, it's the humans who are left looking foolish for trying to stop the monster family bonding with their cold machinery. Meanwhile, the monsters get to be depicted as caring beings with their own needs, capable of sacrifice, and in Baby's case, as a wholly innocent creature.

If the classic Japanese Godzilla is a Chad, does that make the hunched over, limp-wristed 1998 American Godzilla his virgin counterpart?
>>87528462
Gojira (1954)
>>87523333
Best Showa- Gojira
Best Heisei- vs. Biollante
Best Millennium- GMK
Is this right?
Do people forget how good Godzilla looks? Honda is seriously underappreciated.
>>87529604
Yes. That does it.
