>>
>>87514749
It's more than just a few little conincidences here and there. It's more like nearly everything lines up.

Notice how the weird electrical background noises never overlap from the two episodes? Notice how music never overlaps? There's only the occasional dialogue overlap but usually only when nothing important is being said. Whenever there's a quiet, drawn-out moment on one side, there's something happening on the other. But the downtimes never overlap, there's no "boring" moments like when watching the episodes separately. It's like it's intentionally made this way so it's easier to follow, instead of the chaos you'd likely get if you overlay some random movie with another movie.

They even went out of their way to remove the electric noise from the Lynch-Frost logo so that it won't overlap with the Julee Cruise song.
>>
>>87514874
you're just reinforcing my statement, dark side of the moon and wizard of oz supposedly sync up too
>>
>>87514246

Good question. In a conventional story like this, Mr. C would be killing people who failed to assassinate Dougie to wrap up loose ends. But he really does not seem the type to care about authorities finding loose ends, and all the assassins he hired would likely be more than willing to try again upon failure.

I guess he just had him killed as a lesson to not fail him?

Not going to lie, I took a long break after episode 8 for all the other episodes to air, so that I could get a 1 week free trial and watch them all, so I can't remember much about the firs 8 episodes.
What was with the girl in the bra? Who was she on the phone to, and what did Agent Jeffries have to do with Bad Coop? Was he working with him/was Jeffries evil?

I believe he fed Mr. C the bad coordinates. Can't remember a girl in a bra? Unless you mean the black babe.

Jeffries definitely wasn't evil. He got stuck in a time loop. The same thing almost happened to Coop.

Looking at the wiki, it seems that Agent Jefrries had been impersonated - it wasn't him asking Ray and Darya to kill Bad Coop.
So what exactly is Agent Jeffries doing? Is he actually doing nothing? Just staying in his room blowing off steam?

How to make a cult classic movie:

1. DO NOT END IT! The worst thing any director can do to their film is offer any sense of conclusion whatsover. I know it sounds sketchy, but so long as you say you're 'leaving it open to interpretation' people will mistake your laziness for genius. Trust me, it works every time!

2. Don't stop at leaving just one plotline unfinished! The more the merrier, introduce as many intriguing, entirely unrelated plots as you can, publicly swear on your life that they're all related, and laugh heartily as people scramble to figure out how it all connects! Always a gas!

3. Anybody can throw a bunch of stupid random things together at the end of a movie and seem artsy, but YOU'RE different. You have the midas touch when it comes to cinematic non sequitur and your fans know it. Old people crawling out of paper bags?! It's so genius. SO genius. I'm gonna start fingering myself now.

4. Want to throw in some tasteless lesbian nude scenes? Normally these would be dismissed as tacky and useless, but so long as you have a long running reputation as a 'genius' film director they'll be seen as 'artful' and 'a metaphor'

5. Worried that people will see through your countless filmmaking bluffs? Never fear! Your army of devoted fans will mercilessly attack everyone who dares to bash your masterpiece as being artless neanderthals.

Well, now you're on your way to becoming a genius film director. Hopefully this guide has given you a look inside the mind of some of film's greatest minds, as well as some ideas of your own! See you at Cannes, maestro!

So I was just thinking about Odessa coop, and how he acted like an amalgam of both the bad and regular coops. And I got to thinking, what if the coop we know has always been the "good" coop, and his bad doppleganger has been trapped in the lodge from an unspecified time in his childhood. And only at the end are the 2 coops reunited to form a full person.

I'm convinced Judy didn't create the alternate reality, but was instead lured into it by Diane and Coop fucking (a ritual maybe?), similar to episode 1 with the glass box. Bit of a stretch desu. I have a similar theory (albeit just as weak) that bad coop is Richard from the odessa timeline where laura never existed, and was drawn into the original timeline when cooper enters the black lodge at the end of s2.

When Mr C is finally destroyed in the red room and coop enters the odessa world, he struggles to maintain his sense of self and quirky, upbeat charm because he assumes the identity of his doppleganger. I guess my general point is that the "good" coop only exists in a timeline where laura was killed, because without her death he lacks any kind of noble cause or purpose in life. Coop needs to save laura, bad coop doesn't "need" anything.

The reason I like Lynch movies is the atmosphere. The lingering nightmarish feeling of something being very off. And this effect lasts for a while, it doesn't end with the movie. I don't think that's a totally unreasonable idea. We know he has premonitory dreams, and the scene with laura whispering in his ear is returned to time and time again. its possible he's had the dream before he was even aware of her existence.

I don't think it destroyed everything, just the dream Laura was currently living in. Coop already saved her so she woke up in bed as if her murder never happened, but I think Coop got wiped out of existence.

ah, thought you were referring more specifically to the series. My guess is we don't really know just how much is actually changed by laura's absence, and bear in mind Jeffries talks about Cole remembering the "unofficial" version which would suggest that scene played out differently in some way. There's also that weird moment where cooper's image lingers on the screen as he watches Jeffries passing him. food for thought

18 is more like an unofficial epilogue, for people who need some form of conclusion. Coop says he'll see Diane at the curtain call, which is what happens after a performance is finished and the actors walk out of the curtains to confront the audience out-of-character -- which is what happened to Coop and Diane when they crossed over into Laura's dream.

Really pretentious bit of pop analysis for you: I think you can see Twin Peaks: The Return as a metaphor for all literary art after Roland Barthes, viz., the Film’s premise that the Film becomes conscious of itself as “conscious,” as having interests and an agenda; the Film becomes literally self-referential.

This is a theme already occurring in previous Lynch's work, Inland Empire. The Film is alive and is taking part in its own production.

"Audrey's Dance" is a prime example of that, alongside the final scene (as a matter of fact the entire final episode). What we see after that Roadhouse scene is Audrey's painful realization of being trapped inside a Film.

I just fucking realized it's Overlay Coop that speaks "WE LIVE INSIDE A DREAM". I think that when he sees Naido he realizes he's still inside the Lodge, or inside some sort of fake world.

Maybe the entire series is just his soul being destroyed inside the Lodge, as he was warned about?

Don't think the dream shit is supposed to be taken literally, as if it really is just Dale Cooper's dream as he's laying in bed.
In S1 many of the characters would say something like that they felt as if they were in a dream, Jeffries also said this in FWWM.

IDK what it means, Lynch would probably say that we in the "real world" also live inside a dream.

when you say "watching them together," do you mean watching them side by side or superimposing the two episodes on top of each other and literally watching them both at once?

That wasn't the message from Mullins if that's what you were referring to. That was the last thing Coop said to Cole, 25 years ago.
>>
>>87520470
>not actually wanting that

Really, we want to see how dark it gets inside Lynch's mind. The sorrow and anger of the masses still trying to cope with the ending from S3 not being just a longer anime battle involving "this is not even my final form" Bob beating one punch man and being defeated by Cooper, while at the same time removing Audrey's curse and having all the tulpas apologize profusely for all the damage they've done.

And some random scene from FWWM that wasn't ever shown before of Phillip Jeffries explaining everything else.

Some of the important characters are from FWWM, half of the soundtrack is also from it. The movie is almost as important to watch as the first 2 seasons, if not more.
>>
>>87516108
this is what seems most correct to me

the whole "we live inside a dream" seems to confuse a lot of people, what it means is that our "reality" is the dream of the lodge spirits. the show doesn't take place in Laura's head or anything like that.
>>
>>87520698

>>
>>87516555
Nah, Coop was acting like that because he realized that he lives inside a dream so he really doesn't have much reason to act cute with what are essentially dream characters. He's just very focused on his end goal, which is why he doesn't even question the dead body in Carrie's house.

On a side note, the way Richard/Coop acts is almost exactly like how I would imagine Agent Desmond would act in that situation. I miss that guy, why couldn't Lynch give us any sort of closure on that one?
>>
>>87520824
In the "real" world the people they possess speak forward, like pic related.

That means NOT EVERYTHING changes. If you need your fictional stories to "actually happen" don't dismiss it because Coop altered reality. Many thing are probably still in continuity.
