She literally hated her job; hated her character.

Until Worf is introduced, she only ever played a prop. She was essentially Tuvok/Tasha. With Worf, she got to double-down on the "Curzon use to hang out with a lot of Klingons" aspect of her character which was the only interesting thing she did/had to do before Worf shows up (that episdoe with the four aged Klingons going to get blood-revenge on a weird albino guy). And even after Worf shows up, it was only sometimes.

I can't say she wanted to be the star, but often her entire job was "tap on the console in the background while other characters talk about the plot."

And any episode about her wasn't about HER, it was about one of her character's previous hosts, and how their actions are fucking up her life right now. That sounds like a cool thing to do once a season for a well-written, established character. But she was so underwritten these fuckin' plots seemed to come out of nowhere.

"Stormfront", which, aside from some wonderful visuals of a shuttle being attacked by WWII fighters, and the NX-01 flying low over Manhattan, presented a truly god-awful propaganda story about stereotypical, cartoonish "Nazis" doing stereotypical, cartoonish "Nazi" things, and topping it off with Bobby Baccalieri acting very poorly like a "tough guy" named "Carmine" with a "little sister" who is a moulinyan. So, in answer to your question... No. Not necessarily.

Of course the best part of that two-part episode was the part two intro... <sigh> If only...

Do we know what the limits of Starfleet communications are? We know they're still doing deep-space missions as of "Doctor Bashir, I Presume", but do those missions go out of communication range? If not, there would be no need to have the computer able to field-read-in on secure information, and it would probably be safer from a security perspective if the computer didn't hold such classified information as they're easier to interrogate than people.

"Out of range" is relative, Picard and Kirk could expect a reply within weeks which is long enough that they could hang around where they detected the particle, Voyager couldn't wait years/decades to ask why the ship was stopped if Janeway died, and was a very unlikely scenario with their technology. And I bet the crew could have neutered the computer enough to continue if it was truly necessary.

Another possibility is that the absence of a sworn-in officer prevents the protocol from taking control of the ship. Alternatively, the version of the Omega Directive we saw may be the way it gets triggered if the ship can't contact Starfleet command directly so a specialist cleanup crew can be dispatched.

We've not discovered the omega particle, and every particle more complicated than the ones we have discovered don't occur naturally, so any species that can create it has to be more advanced than modern humans.

Man the last scene of DS9 is so good. Just a lone space station, floating in the giant void.

it may be the only scene in all of Trek where you actually get a good sense of scale.

Enterprise was the only post TOS Trek series that was good from the very beginning. Seasons 1-3 were the best. Season 4 was when the quality started to fade. Most all of the stinkers are in season 4. I'm actually glad it was canceled early. With Coto in charge, it could have quickly devolved into yet another woefully gay PC fest like tng... only suitable for faggots, sjw morons, cucks, and trannies, as it actually seemed to be moving in that direction.

Enterprise offered the fanbase some new and original things...

But they had been eating garbage trek for so long that when they were finally served a bit of Enterprise, which is actually the Prime Rib of Star Trek, their acquired taste for garbage forced them to spit it out as if it were poison.

There were some good elements in season 4. It wasn't all bad. The Vulcan and Romulan arcs were good. But fuck that overrated fag Data as well as his fanbase. The Klingon/augment arc could have been 1000% better without his stupid face chewing up most of the scenery.

The finale was appalling, and the token black "inventor of the transporter" ep was major cringe.

Also, let's not forget "Bound", that retarded green Orion slut episode. You'd have to be a fat, ugly, pimply-faced, sex-starved, permavirgin fanboi to find either one of those talentless, pond scum-colored cunts even mildly attractive. And don't even get me started on the whole, "The slaves were really the masters all along" bullshit. The only thing good about it was the fact that Trip was immune to their smelly twats.

Just watched this pretentious tripe called "Dax" from s1e8 of DS9.

The acting in it is terrible, clumsy, or melodramatic. The story's main idea, while mildly interesting, is stunted by tedious dialogue and predictable progression.

And, in the end, all the judge needed to hear was a CLAIM by the deceased's ex-wife that his killer was in her bed to make a summary rule.

Wish I could unwatch an Trekisode.

Mechanics aren't required to know math, just what they're working with. Math is great no doubt but when you're literally writing the books on those systems it's not like you can look up a reference and in the adventure space missions it's not as helpful to know the theoretical as it is the practical. That's a running theme in ENT, jury rigging shit as they go.
>>
>>87382521
Roddenberry was barely involved with TOS. All the good stuff came from Gene Coon and Dorothy Fontana during the reign of Herbert Solow and Robert Justman.

Go watch it.

I'll put up $100 on this and even memory alpha agrees with me (atoms turned into a matter stream then re-assembled at the other pad). And I'm not scouring through entire fucking scripts for the rest of the night either. So the burden of proof is on you now and what I've demonstrated is an understanding of a false equivalency. You've shown a multitude examples of goalpost shifting and strawmanning. You're disingenuous (as usual) but what's worse is you keep attempting to shift the argument. But you are perfectly willing to continue arguing for the rest of the night. Everybody in this thread hates our argument, so I'm trying my gosh-darn hardest to bring it to a conclusion.

>(atoms turned into a matter stream then re-assembled at the other pad)
I never said that atoms aren't disassembled during transportation.

I said that disassembled atoms are still able to interact with each other, and this continued interaction is the reason that a person doesn't die while their atoms are disassembled during transportation.

Can you really not accept this explanation? Must you continue to insist that what we see on the screen cannot be true?
>>
>>87385719
>I said that disassembled atoms are still able to interact with each other, and this continued interaction is the reason that a person doesn't die while their atoms are disassembled during transportation.

I don't remember you ever saying anything that specific in our argument. I was never arguing that but, where in the show is that stated in dialogue? You clearly have a far deeper immediate knowledge of nearly every episode.

And you remember the episode Relics? There was no consciousness in the pattern buffers and those are necessary for there to be any transport at all.

Star Trek.
>>
>>87385793
>I don't remember you ever saying anything that specific in our argument.
I said it very early in the conversation.
>The physics of the Star Trek universe work differently from the physics of the real life universe. Particles and molecules interact differently in Star Trek from how they interact in real life. In Star Trek, because the physics are different, breaking a person down into pieces and transporting those pieces does not disrupt consciousness because those pieces still have full and uninterrupted interactions with each other.
If you want, you can apologize for not paying attention.

>I was never arguing that but, where in the show is that stated in dialogue?
There was no dialogue against it, and the show demonstrates that it is true by showing people remaining conscious during transportation. Do you have another explanation, other that your theory that this specific part of Star Trek can't or shouldn't be canon?

>And you remember the episode Relics? There was no consciousness in the pattern buffers
Post the line of dialogue which states that Scotty was unconscious. You won't find it. I will grant you that Scotty wasn't aware of how much time had passed, but it's not as if he brought a watch with him.

So can you accept it? Can we all move on with our lives?
