>no set design, feels empty and lifeless
>no interesting ideas for storylines and generally bad writing
>relies on gimmicks only instead
>those are unoriginal or just bad, unfortunately ("fuck you, albert", glove, andy and lucy, coordinates, riddles, ...)
>bad acting (Bell, Lynch, Horse, Robertson, Dern, ...)
>dull characters (one-dimensional at best)
>storylines and characters are introduced for no purpose
>everything is supposed to weirdly connect and make sense
>shot in digital in a way that doesn't compensate for the technology's disadvantages (looks bad)
>roadhouse scenes (out of place, badly shot, the songs, the bands, the extras, ...)
>student-tier storytelling/editing (characters are shown walking up complete sets of stairs)
>stretched out needlessly, long takes have no particular effect
>everything above is literally cringe-tier in concept and implementation
>obviously delusional and/or inexperienced fanbase perceiving it as particularly meaningful, complex or "deep"
>can't compare to the original series that doesn't have those problems (coherent/complex and beautiful sets, costumes and make-up/well shot/well acted/well written/magnificent multi-dimensional characters and character relations, music, storylines and gimmicks/creates a unique athmosphere as a result, changing the world of television forever whereas "the return" neither manages to do something established really good nor to invent something new)

Now that I think about it, this heavily reminds me of The Wizard of Oz.

>Judy was the dreamer.

>Judy Garland.

>Toto, I have a feeling we're not in Twin Peaks anymore.

Who was dreaming? What year was it? What reality was it?

Last scene was a dream
laura in 1989 is the dreamer
cooper asks what year is it
laura's mother calls out to her from the waking world
laura recognizes her mother's voice and realize she's dreaming
she screams and wakes up back in 1989 the morning they would have found her body had cooper not had changed the past.

I still don't get why BOB chose to reside in Cooper's evil doppelganger instead of causing pain and suffering and rape all the time like with Leland. He wanted to possess Laura even. A doppelganger would seem like such a boring host. Evil Cooper raped Diane once but that was it.

Like why not Benjamin Horne? Or Richard Horne?

But doppelcoop did more than rape Diane. He raped Audrey, giving her a shitty son, he went around the world getting into all sort of shady stuff involving drugs and such, he probably raped more women, he killed whenever he felt a person wasn't of more use to him and so on. And he could do that all easily in the body of a doppelganger, who ofc had all the memories of a FBI agent.

Fellas,
The first time Laura whispered in Coop's ear, she revealed to him The Secret™—the answer to the mystery of who killed her. We, the viewer, never heard what she told him this time (but we know from his reaction that she told him something v compelling). Showing that behind the end credits seems, to me, to represent this idea that we will never explicitly know the answer to *this* mystery—the overarching mystery of Twin Peaks and time and everything that goes along with it (which is how Lynch wanted it in the first place RE: Laura's killer)—and, honestly, that's partially because there is no easy answer. We can/will speculate, of course, but so much of this is "felt" in atmosphere and abstraction and crazy nuanced inter-dimensional stuff and things that we'd never be able to understand with our tiny human brains in a million years. This is a beautiful, stunning, scattered-puzzle-pieces, classic-Lynch ending that will lend itself to 25+ years more of discussion and musings and theories and who on earth could possibly want it any other way?

To the people who might have been confused by the end or think there's plot inconsistencies, while I won't go into any theories specifically or deny any criticism you might have. I do think it's important to understand several parallels drawn by David Lynch and where he took inspiration from to truly get what he was going for (or was trying to go for). I'm not going to explain any theory in and of itself, but I will try to lay a general line of thinking out on the table.

There's a clear inspiration taken by Lynch from a certain genre of anime, in particular the likes of Angel Beats (2010) and Charlotte (2015). Both heavily criticized for doing the exact same thing Twin Peaks did but it really does all fit together well if you're of an high IQ enough to understand and appreciate this type of story. I know this might come of as unbelievable but there's many similarities here and if you want a less complex version that might help you understand the Season 3 Finale of Twin Peaks I think it's best to have seen the aforementioned shows.
They might be a little rough, and things might seem odd. But that's exactly why it compares so well to Twin Peaks. You can see, going from the first to the second show the time that has passed in real time reflects within the show itself. AB (?) C (?). It's a rollercoaster ride much like Twin Peaks was (is? season 4?) and will likely help you answer many of the problems you might have had with the ending of the third season of Twin Peaks. They're diamonds in the rough. They're the crude oil running through the veins of our inner sanctum. But at the end of the day you can better understand Lynch as a person, a creator, and, most importantly, a human. What his eyes saw and what he tried to reflect. Through the works so brilliantly parodied by him that go beyond a subconscious mind.

If you've got 10 hours of free time, and want to understand Twin Peaks on a much higher plane, consume these 2 shows. Thank me later.

>>
>>87298316
Why do people take this shit personally. Directors like Lynch are artists, their art comes before their friendships. This is the same shit with Kubrick, Malcolm McDowell has always been upset over the fact that he tried to get in contact with Kubrick after the film as friends and Kubrick wanted nothing to do with him.

They should just appreciate the fact they were even involved with the piece in the first place.

Overall, this is the worst piece of trash ever to be broadcasted on television. If I was Showtime, I would be embarrassed to have this pathetic excuse of a story amongst its programming. This was 18 hours of senseless scenes and story lines filled with the worst acting I have ever seen. For all you DL fan boys who claim this is art; well I guess if I was to take can of black spray paint and just spray the canvas randomly, that would be art, too. Here's a news flash: IT'S NOT.. and neither is Twin Peaks The Return. What this season did was to destroy the mystery of the series and the movie, FWWM. I said this when I first heard there was going to be a season 3, and I'll say it again.. David Lynch and Mark Frost should have left it alone. The story of Twin Peaks was perfect before this piece of crap was released.

Pretty fucking scary actually. The horror aspects of Twin Peaks have always been my favorite. It was a fun ride, but that was a great way to cap off the series.

Everything we saw in Season 3 was either a dream or another dimension from multiple viewpoints.

Lodges are like inter-dimensional airports of sorts.

In ep 18 cooper enters into a new reality to go rescue laura palmer after he fucked things up changing the pas/realityt in ep 17.

In the end it was all Coopers dream.

The sleeper has awaked again. Just not in his home world.

Friendly reminder that vedderfags were right all along. Pic related WAS another evil Cooper, and good Cooper got trapped in the Black Lodge again.
Some clues:
>Diane recognizes that he isn't the regular Coop
>Long car-POV highway takes that have been associated with Evil Coop all season
>General odd demeanor by Cooper, shooting people and showing zero signs of humor
Evil Coop expected to reach Judy (Glass box monster, now residing inside Sarah) through Laura, but it was a trap set by the Convenience Store spirits all along. Carrie Page was a tulpa used to lure him into it.

This exact thing. I'm not sure I've EVER felt the way I felt hearing her scream reverberating until the credit sequence kicked in. I was terrified of looking at how much time there was left, I didn't wanna do it and I didn't, but I knew it was over.

The way the house just violently goes dark and a final spark is heard. Fuck me. I don't know, people keep talking about how Cooper undid the past and saved Laura from being killed, but the entirety of Part 18 was nothing but unsettling to me. I thought that's where they were going at first, undoing everything and giving her a happy ending, but fuck me if that's a happy ending.

They're other people in a different world where nothing makes any sense and she just got jolted and remembered all the pain and suffering in the final scene, nothing changed.

yeah, I get the same feeling. The end credits seem so bleak as well and I can't help but feel Coop could never save her and regain his own trueself.

I do like how many different ways there are to interpet the ending though. It reminds me of how Lynch is always said to have wanted to go into film making to bring his paintings to life. The ending feels that way and we should all remember every person sees the meaning behind a painting differently. Lynch has never wanted to explain shit and this is his way of finally making it clear to us.

The phrase "Train wreck" comes to mind, but it’s really not accurate. Trains have momentum and direction. This does not. A better analogy would be a pack of feral chihuauas in heat. With grenades taped to their backs. Entertaining and destructive, maybe even cute and tragic at times, but ultimately a waste of explosives and snake food. I don’t think having more episodes would have helped at all either. The problem wasn’t the pacing, it was that from start to finish, the show had absolutely no idea what it wanted to do, where it was going, or what its endgame was. It would do slapstick for ten minutes, then suddenly turn deadly serious, and then it tossed in romance literally five minutes from the end. Then they would compare someone missing a fly ball to someone else having their entire family murdered like they were events of the same importance. That certainly made it interesting to talk about, but I’d say the same thing about Maburaho or Princess Lover.

>>
>>87298103
Lol no.
At least it EXPOSED the hack that is David Lynch, too bad the brainlets here will fake appreciation out of fear of looking dumb so this shit actually pulled decent ratings.
If it wasn't called "Twin Peaks" and didn't have Lynch name attached to it people would mock it like The Room.
>>
>>87299230
I was legit hoping for something like this

It was just payback for most 2deep4u anime arbitrarily ripping Lynch off

The ending was literally lights out for the Twin Peaks universe. The dreamer didn't want to dream anymore.

Lynch is and always will be a mentally hack who makes non-sense that people overanalyze to extreme levels. But its what you would expect from modern "art" which is why so many sub-human leftists enjoy his films. You won't ever see a hard working conservative enjoy this garbage ever. They would call it for this: non-sense leftist garbage full of confusion just like their retarded worldview and lives.

Kek, I didn't expect there to be this much hate from plebs who've never experienced a Lynchian ending before. Personally I fucking loved it.

I thought that until he met Laura. The Diane and Judy's diner thing was pretty similar in attitude. But then I realised after Laura he cannot trust this place, he knew things would change on this side.

Also inconsistencies in Twin Peaks such as RR Café, not RR Diner

You only fake appreciation because you KNOW there's Lynch name attached to it.
I repeat, if this was an unknown indy production(because it looks like one, camera-work, special effects and direction all look amateurish) people here would trash it 24/7.
>>
>>87299335

At least nearly everything in Eva is made clear after a rewatch or 2. I don't think that will be the case here. This ending would inspire so many pretentious college hipsters to write their 100 pages long analysis based on "symbolism".
>>
>>87298621

>Phillip Jeffries: Died investigating a case in Argentina.
For someone who claims to understand the Oz parallels, they sure fucking dropped the ball on that one. Jeffries was literally the Wizard behind the curtain. He was a projection when Mr. C visited him, but MIKE knew where he really was.
>>
>>87299389
if it was an unknown indie production it simply wouldn't have gotten the traction of audience to begin with, so to compare the two would be impossible and worthless. lynch as a meme to the viewers here add nothing but traction

That's as close to an objective flaw as there can be. Tie this shit up even a little or point us in a direction. Why was someone "pretending to be Jeffries" and why did they switch into a disappearing box? No, it isn't interesting to just leave it totally open-ended and contemplate it; it's just random nonsense.

It was still one of the best things I've ever seen over, and a lot of the other 'open-ended' elements are super interesting to be because in most cases there are ways to theorize about them in ways that make the entire saga deeper.

No, archive footage is the property of the person who financed the creation of said footage.
>>
>>87298591
To me, this means Laura is waking up. That's why the lights go off. Laura was the dreamer living in the dream. Cooper is just another character she created to help her back out of the dream. In reality, there is no Cooper. There never was. Lynch "Newharted" it. Or "St. Elsewhere-ed" it. Let that sink in.
>>
>>87299130
Bridge to Idaho, you mean. Hence the FBI involvement, because it crossed state lines.
>>
>>87298187
It means nothing and it's just an echo for spooky affect because Lynch likes the phrase.
There's no narrative connection at all unless you want to go way out on a limb and make gigantic speculations without anything else to prop them up with.
*shrugs*
"Audrey is dreaming ALL of this."
"The Arm is also Audrey's husband."
"The Arm was always Audrey."
None of these ideas make any sense and it doesn't add anything to the mix to have the Arm repeat Audrey's bizarre phrase. Other than just "it's spooky".
Objectively flawed but I still enjoyed it ok for what it was

That was part of the transition, when he and Diane crossed over at the 430 mile mark. It's why he awoke to a letter addressed to "Richard". In fact, they could have been switching over mid-fuck, which maybe why Diane acted like that when she covered his face.

If Laura is waking up, it's because Cooper saved her in the previous episode. Bob is defeated, Cooper stops her from meeting up with Ronette and the others, so her corpse disappears from the past and she wakes up in the pilot episode when Sarah is calling for her to wake up for school.
>>
>>87300097
