It's all so surreal bros, we're 16 episodes into a 3rd season of Twin Peaks 25 years later, with one more week to go, and he actually did it, he actually made a stellar season of television, exceeding my expectations and blowing my mind. And he did it at his pace. More measured and self assured than almost any other series. The Coop return was all the more poignant for the 15 preceding episodes. What a time to be alive. It almost doesnt feel real.

I'm not sure i possess the vocabulary or insight to make manifest how i feel about Dougie, but he was almost an existential comment. Both in story, and on a meta level. In story- as a blank man, devoid of ego or motivation, surrounded by the trappings and machinations of modern life, only existing subjectively to the world and people around him. In a similar sense, it felt like a commentary on the modern (violent) media like Tarantino, Breaking Bad, etc in which he was no smirking drug kingpin or cool guy spouting one liners but a blank slate, again, only really existing in relation to the plot around him, on some level farcical.

Is there any "big question" that needs answering, anyway? I'm not expecting much more from the ending. Maybe knowing what's the deal with Sarah and perhaps Laura or Audrey (which wasn't even a real issue for me until the last episode). But other than that I'm entirely content with an "open ending".
The only closure Twin Peaks needed was Cooper getting out of the lodge, and that has already happened. Now let's just see if he lives through the end or not.

Cooper waking up, with his Dougie memories intact, getting the Mitchum Brothers' help to get to Twin Peaks, personally thanking Bushnell for being a good person, and reassuring Janey-E and Sonny Jim that he loves them and will return.

This episode was a perfect send off to that storyline, it was beautiful.

I can name you at least 6 other episodes from TR that had more stilted and dull cinematography, this episode actually felt more deliberate in its framing and use of panning shots than many others have.

Speaking of Diane: how did her body just disappear? What is the scientific explanation for this? Because if there is none, which is highly likely, then why isn't Gordon, the government or similar entities, or anyone else panicking over phenomenon that literally defy known laws of physics? What about the portals that Gordon and the Sheriff's Department saw, why do they just glance over it as if nothing happened when in fact the very fabric of the natural world was broken? This really doesn't make sense, because in reality this would be investigated and such information be deemed of utmost importance.
