Littlefinger is a smart character. But now the show is ahead of the books the low IQ writers are baffled by how to write him, so they just kill him off immediately.

For a show that has a reputation for killing off characters at unexpected moments I have never been shocked by a character's death, all of them are predictable as fuck. I can already see Snow getting the throne and Dragon Queen dying heroically to save Snow.
