Manga: not bad, enjoyable enough, but still shonen at heart. Decently written, but like all shonen it loses steam towards the end.

Anime: tonal shift because of instead of being ambiguous about Light it more or less hero-worships him, which more or less undercuts the theme of the story

Netflix: lolwut nigga are you retarded? Goofy to its core - probably good for a laugh though as a gonzo reimagining of the property.

People don't like the Netflix version because it exposes and criticizes the character and story you identified with as an edgy teen for what it is: convoluted machinations of a retard with a God complex.

The anime starts to get bad right after Lightgives up on his ownership, the only saving grace was L and Light together. After Near and Mello show up everything goes to shit and it's barely watchable.

It's probably a metaphor for how boring Light's life got after L died.

The anime is good there's a bit of anime wackiness that if you don't like anime might annoy you but it's extremely minimal compared to most anime popular in the west. Gets weaker after halfway but comes together for a strong finish.
