For a minute I felt like this episode crossed the line into schlocky, GOT levels of fanservice that constantly happens with modern TV shows. Then I thought that the show has had 15 episodes of buildup and its nice to have a guilty pleasure once in a while.

Although I'm now seeing it being a possibility that there is going to be some sort of Avengers style team of characters against Sarah Palmer inhabited by the Mother. I'm a tiny bit nervous but I think I trust Lynch.

Imo the difference is that twin peaks earned its fan service with emotional investment and buildup. lynch/frost knew people wanted to see old coop again and they're using that as emotional payoff after 15 episodes of keeping him from the viewer. They did the oppisite with james singing You and I again in the roadhouse. They knew that people HATED that fucking song and knew it embodied everything people dislike about the original series and just said 'fuck you, its part of the package' and made the audience sit through 3 minutes of it.

Hard to tell if S4 is needed before seeing the finale. They're so many things to resolve yet it's not entirely necessary to resolve them all. Some of them would even benefit being kept ambiguous.
S3 was like FWWM part 2. Would be nice if there is a S4 more related to the original series.
In b4 pleb I'm not asking for some retarded revival just maybe something more focused on Twin Peaks. But yeah it really depends on the ending, it might end up being completely useless. I've been BTFO by many episodes of S3 in terms of actual substantial happenings with pure kino style.

Never say they weren't. They preserved Bob because Boop being shot probably "removed" Bob from Boop and he needed to be "recovered" or something, and then Boop to be healed. That's the impression the scene left me.

In any case what we've seen of Boop during S3 was 99% him, not Bob I think. Just didn't sound/act like Bob a lot. He was/is "with him" for sure but didn't manifest himself much. Maybe for the finale ?

It is Jeffries and formerly Briggs. He is in cahoots with the good Lodge spirits to get the natural order restored (that is, Booper and BOB in the lodge and Cooper in the real world). That's why he and Major Briggs (who relayed the same coordinates to Hastings and his secretary) gave matching coordinates. They were setting a trap to destroy or capture Booper and he used Richard to get around it.

Booper is in charge of the hits on Dougie. He was the guy threatening Duncan Todd and he was the one who got Chantal to assassinate him for being incompetent in taking out Dougie.
