My personal thoughts on the matter;
Audrey is probably in a mental institution. We know that all the Roadhouse scenes cannot be in her mind since James interacted with characters both inside and outside of it concernig events that are directly connected, so she has to be familiar with how the roadhouse looks at this point in time, so she can't have been there for long.
She probably really had an affair with a man named Billy, and the story of Billy the two girls were discussing at the Roadhouse is probably true. Audrey may have had a dream about Billy that caused her to actually wake up to the real world again instead of living in her own fantasy one, because she sensed Billy was in danger.
The Fireman or MIKE may be involved, seeing how MIKE sent a dream to Jim Belushi in order to save Cooper. She was probably forced to wake up by either of them who gave her a vision of Billy in danger because she will have a role to play in the finale.
If Billy is indeed the man at the sheriff station, it would make sense that the Fireman or MIKE would try to lead her there since that's probably where the climax is going to take place in.
