>>
>>86953352
Moffat deliberately wrote 12 and Missy's relationship a lot more companionably than RTD wrote 10 and Simmy's. Moffat wrote the Doctor as giving Missy the benefit of the doubt out of attachment. He was seeking to rekindle something closer to their antagonistic friendship from the Pertwee era.
RTD's version is a lot more interested in the epic stakes of the Doctor facing off with the most evil man ever who is also subtextually his tragic lover. I don't think 10 was really that much of a dick to the Master considering the things the Master had actually done, but it might seem that way in comparison.

As for the rest of series 3, it's an example of why "the current companion gets shat on because the Doctor misses the previous companion" isn't a great concept if you don't want the Doctor to look like a twat.
>>
We should do a shit trips 2.5 for after the 13th doctor does her first 2 minute scene. At least then we will have a taste of what theyre like.
>>
>>86953616
>no one is nice on /tv/

don't fall into the trappings of peer pressure! think for yourself, a simple kind encounter could make someone's day much better than before they spoke to you.
>>
>>86953882
How about:

"Good morning Doctor! So, what sort of adventure are we going on today? How about the Rose Gardens of Artia?” Clara asked. She paused, frowning. “But can there not be a lot of running? For some reason my body hurts very badly this morning."

The Doctor had an innocent look on his face. Clara raised her eyebrows, and felt herself smirking, but didn’t know why. Like she’d heard a punchline to some joke between them.

In general, I prefer the implication that this is a private consensual non-consent fantasy that both Clara and the Doctor are in on, though neither will admit it. I'm just prudish that way.

>>86954159
I personally don't care for the implication either way and would prefer it interpreted by the reader. I don't really care for the saintly interpretation of the doctor in general and prefer to see him as morally complex. I mean he doesn't ask for consent as far as the tardis's translation ability goes, which could be seen as an invasion of personal boundaries. However it's not a huge change and not enough for me to really protest over. Editor's prerogative, do as you wish.

The first time I wrote porn I got about 40 pounds.

It's not that hard, you just have to be a bit graphic and not repeat "Clara rubbed 13's pussy" over and over.

Tbh that was probably the most vanilla version of it. Originally it was 7/ace/catlady and a cat man from survival. Another version involved clala being impaled on the disused time rotor from the funhouse console room. Another version involved the "anchor room" in which any/every doctor had access too outside of time so they can gangbang companions together brofisting and highfiving.

We've already won. Doctor Who has the distinction of being the longest ever running science fiction show with multiple successful spinoffs. Game of thrones will only last another season, making a grand total of 8 or 9? with another handful of books, and maybe 1 or 2 viable spin offs that won't share it's success.
Game of thrones will be forgotten and perhaps regarded as a flash in the pan.
>>
>>86966474
Moffat's era was fucking cool.
The audios are better than the old series.
Lawrence Miles is overrated.
It's hypocritical that people shit on Moffat for writing the same story over and over when Robert Holmes did the "disfigured and near-death evil guy needs his servant to help him get back to full strength while two supporting characters banter in the background" story over half a dozen times.

A) You don't even have to mention body parts. I wrote this whole heterosexual erotic fic with Fitz and Iris Wildthyme, and never mentioned a bodypart: http://archiveofourown.org/works/9520850

B) Write about the characters being in pleasure. Write about Oswin's shyness, or perhaps her secret glee at her personal hero eating her out. What does she feel about that?

How about 13? Is she unused to eating out women? So, perhaps unexperienced? Or does our innocent hero actually have tons of experience? And how does Oswin react to that?

Why is Oswin attracted to Thirteen? And vice cersa.

Because the physical part is the least important. Don't try to "make it erotic." Why is this experience erotic io the characters? Keep that answer in mind, and let that guide you.

Is this an one-night stand? Or have they fallen in love? Is Oswin afraid of Kate finding out? Are they in the TARDIS, or in Oswin's office, when she's supposed to be working? Has Oswin fantasized about being with past Doctors, or is this a recent attraction stirred from the Doctor's gender change?

And how does Thirteen see it? Is she just an asexual who is humoring a human friend who likes sex, or is she an alien with secret physical desires of her own?

What makes this scene erotic for the characters? The answers to that question should be hinted by the way you've set the scene, and will guide the actual sex scene.

>>86969094
Good tidings, anon!
>>
>>86969651

At what point did Toby Whithouse run out of ideas and/or talent? Because I remember everyone was super hyped for him around God Complex, but then the Lake/Flood two parter was just mostly bland with one or two isolated bits that were interesting, and Lie of the Land was flat-out terrible and wrecked an entire arc.

General Summary:
As the Doctor regenerates into 13 she feels a burning desire inside her, something quite different to anything she experiences with regeneration. She notes the changes in her body and how sensitive she is.

Then there is a time skip. Story pics up again a few years into 13 life after having companions and saving worlds, but the only thing she thinks about is how from time to time she encounters a woman in her travels. Each time she sees her, her desires to have her grow stronger until one day she invites her into the TARDIS as a companion, secretly wanting to fuck her.

As they have the initial TARDIS talk of "anywhere in time and space?" Oswin expresses her desire to go around time being a slut and fucking all around. The Doctor cannot let this happen tho she has to have her before she lets anyone near her perfect body.

After that I'm not really sure what goes next.Originally they went to a bar where they got drunk and partyied and when inside the TARDIS they start going at it, but now I'm not sure to go that route.

Some of us have always disliked him. I think his work on School Reunion was terrible, and I think pretty much everything he's done besides The God Complex is terrible, and that he's painfully rote and stuck in a juvenile "edgy" mindset with his writing. Really dislike his style. It was played out even back in RTD's era, and it's horrifically embarrassing how he keeps pushing the same shitty ideas through every Doctor and era he can. It was a fluke it happened to actually fit for once in Series 6. Gah, I can't stand him.

Admittedly, I don't really pit the Doctors against each other in general, because they each have their own specific niche that they fill and I certainly like them all but, you know, if I had to point out a favourite... well. I didn't earn my nickname on here for nothing.

I wish McGann knew just how much the fans truly love him, for all that he was the Doctor (physically, anyway) for six weeks. Just because it was the shortest time doesn't mean it counted the least.

Also, I forgot what picture I just uploaded, so it's gonna be a total surprise.

i agree with the anon from earlier, a christmas carol really is a scary episode. it's not something i ever really think of while watching the show because the doctor is always put in a position of great danger in the eyes of the audience, but he is essentially a god. it's surprising most species dont drop to their knees in his presence in fear or worship. he could do literally anything to anyone on any scale. the master is a bit of an idiot, really. lots of wasted potential for evil doings with that kind of power.

Sometimes I think the show doesn't properly portray the moral consequences of time travel like one might expect, if you gave it any sort of deeper thought. Not that it's a big deal, I get that diving into the tiny details and controversies of that sort of stuff mightn't be in the interests of the wider public, but it could be pretty kino.

>but hell bent
That, and a few other episodes, tend to default to a sort of "hey if you change ____, THE UNIVERSE WILL END" but how about the changes that are made without being utterly catastrophic, but are just morally questionable to carry out? Like what happened in A Christmas Carol. I know it's sorta covered with Kazran getting pissed at the Doctor for what he did, but the episode ends without any serious sort of development or repercussions for his actions. You see the sort of power that the Doctor holds, and that's just with his battered old TARDIS and a penchant for trouble - can you imagine the sort of intricate damage that sort of power could really do? It becomes easy to see why the Time Lords are halfway between feared or revered - they really do have the power of gods, which is probably why non-interference became such an important thing to them. The Doctor views them all as corrupt, poncy twats (eh, more or less) who are too cowardly to use their power for good, but I don't think it's really, truly acknowledged how harmful that sort of power could be, even when used for the "right" reasons. Because all those changes the Doctor makes to people's lives - they're not inherently bad or scary, and they're not gonna destroy the world as we know it, but the thought that there exists someone who can suddenly drop out of the sky and change everything you've ever known with minimal effort... You'd think more people would fear him for that alone.

Well, I wasn't exactly criticising it, per se. Just pointing out that it covers the "consequences of time travel" thing in broader strokes than I'd like to see. Not that that's a bad thing. The universe ending as a consequence of major changes to a temporally significant individual is fair enough, that at least makes some amount of sense. I'd just like to see a bit more nuance in the exploration of the sort of fall-out reckless interfering could cause, in addition to all those big, sweeping catastrophes. What sort of effects the Doctor's meddling could have on the regular people he leaves behind. Maybe there's already been an episode that explored that, but my memory's failing me right now if there has been.

>>86979993
We're gonna settle down for some comfy and rewatch the tv movie.
>>
>>86979092
That's because A Christmas Carol breaks the normal rules of the show. It's been said several times that once the Doctor is involved in events he can't just go and change history to undo whatever is causing a problem. It's just ignored in this one special for the sake of doing the Christmas past/present/future gimmick.

Oh, just remembered I'm not up to date on my shitty reviews of the EDAs. Not that I suspect anyone much cares, but since my Seeing I post, I've read Placebo Effect and Vanderdeken's Children. The former was alright, some cute moments and a premise that could've been comfier than it was (a.k.a. the Doctor and Sam visiting a leisure planet to attend a wedding) but mostly forgettable. The main conflict concerned the Wirrn, but they didn't really make themselves known 'til the eleventh hour. Everything up until then involved subterfuge carried out by the Foamasi, and a couple of odd meandering plotlines concerning a royal family and a church, which eventually tied into the Wirrn story. The church also gave us a companion-of-the-week that Sam had an interesting sort of rapport with, but I was never really sold on what the author was trying to portray between them.

Vanderdeken's Children was a pretty neatly tied-up story that was in some part about the perils of time travel and paradoxes, and maybe the inevitability of conflict. I took a little break in my reading of it, but got through it pretty quickly once I got properly stuck in. There were comfy moments towards the beginning, and the story became pretty harrowing as events played out, ultimately resulting in a rather sad ending for the characters involved. There was also a subplot involving a... troubled marriage, pretty much. It didn't actually go anywhere at all, and although it was connected to the overarching plot of the book, that common thread was flimsy at best. As far as I can recall, it had little impact on the story as a whole, so I rather wonder why it was in there. Not that it was bad, or anything. Just... entirely unnecessary. Seems to be a running theme, almost.

I'm working through The Scarlet Empress right now, which is generally considered to be GOAT - and I can see why. It's the comfiest of the comfy, essentially just the gang on a road-trip with Iris Wildthyme (so far, anyway...)

I keep those in a different folder. I've got my Doctor Who folder with audios, episodes, and books - that takes up significantly more space! Then I've got my McGann folder, full of photos and interviews and other miscellaneous things. I keep adding to it now and again when I come across new pictures I haven't seen.

I also have another, top secret folder, into which I place the rarest of pauls.

What's /who/ with you?

Just finished my rewatch of Series 2, bought the limited release Blu Ray with the steelbook art. I was surprised how much I enjoyed some of the stories in series 2. It's still one of the weakest series and Rose/The Doctor and they dynamic does get old very fast.

Stand outs for me were easily The Impossible Planet/The Satan Pit, actually had forgotten how great they were, School Reunion and Girl in the Fireplace were also top tier for me, it's just a shame that the rest while not all being terrible (bar Fear Her) are just forgettable.

The Idiot's Lantern might be the most Gatiss story ever, New Earth is just a weird opening story, Love and Monsters feels like a failed experiment and the Cyberman stories are just dull with too much going out really.
>>
>>86991116
Impossible / Satan Pit is definitely the best of the season IMO
>>
>>86951359
since when is doctor who a turbo-chad?
>>
>>86991954
It really is. After rewatching it, I'd have to say it's probably in my top 10 new Who stories, easily. Still very creepy and stunning.
Although, I always have loved School Reunion, that's a perfect little comfy story with Anthony Head as a great villain. And who doesn't love Sarah Jane and K-9 right?
>>
>>86991954
It's a shitty Planet of Evil ripoff.
Love and Monsters is the best of the series
>>
>>86992919
Come on man, if you wanted to bait us, at least say something non-obvious, like New Earth or whatever.
>>
I'm really sad.

My only group of friends exiled me, and ultimately a part of the reason is entirely my fault.

Anyone want to hop in stream and put on some Classic Who and lament life choices with me?

>What head-up-the-butt moron came up with this laughable crap?! I'm guessing from the sheer stupidity and totally infantile BS of this Rubbish it was invented by some 8 year old kid.

>It's not even remotely true! But I've noticed that Far-Left crackpots have this bizarre tendency to tell thee most outlandish lies rather than face the reality that their prescious little show is nothing but pure garbage!

>No one is asking Tom Baker to come back. At least not the majority of fans who can't stand either Moffats inept writing, which usually starts out seeming soooo promising ONLY to turn around and let those of us with ACTUAL working brains at the end! Whereas Chibnall's Doctor Who and Torchwood stories all suck! They were not only inept BUT they were boring as Heck! But why face reality when you can bury your head up your rear-end and play the make-believe game of "Look at how intolerant and irrational anyone who dares disagrees with us is" ZZZZZZzzzzzzz!!!!

>Oh plot relevant?! WHAT FN PLOT?! The plots are stupid, boring, inept and just plain crap!

>This lame-brained garbage is just another attempt to marginalize those who "Dare" to disagree with th allegedly "superior" opinions of the mindless fans who watch Doctor Who in a vegetative state.

Not even trying to bait. Series 2 is overall pretty shit but Love and Monsters, outside of the last 5 minutes, is RTD at his best.
