It's shitJust like all of early South Park
>>86832799
>it's a "bait post with OP saying 'it's shit' and nothing else" episode
>>86832799
It's one of the greatest movies ever made but it led to the death of the show since everything became way more preachy after it.
>>86832799
But early South Park was best. It was silly and it was just about the kids being little naughty shits. After the movie, South Park started getting political with Trey and Parker injecting their nihilist-libertarian "dude don't rock the boat" bullshit. Now they chase current events with stale internet memes.
>>86832799
It has a fantastic soundtrack
>Chef being alive
>Butters and Randy are practically non-existent
>Cartman is still just the dumb fat kid that the other boys fuck with
>Terrance and Phillip is pretty much the key plot element of the movie
I love it but it whenever I watch it I think about how fucking different it would be if it was made nowadays.
>>86832799
>>86833358
This. Later South Park was better because it turned Cartman into a maniacal genius and one of the best characters of all time
Also terrance and phillip are fucking stupid, and always have been fucking stupid. and don't give me any of that "AHURR BADURR THEY'RE SPOSED TO BE STUPID" horseshit
>>86833358
>>Cartman is still just the dumb fat kid that the other boys fuck with
Man I fucking miss this
I'm feeling optimistic about the new season
>For their upcoming season, South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been candid in the press about returning to their roots of making one-off episodes of "kids being kids" after exhaustively satirizing Donald Trump throughout the 2016 presidential campaign.
>"This season I want to get back to Cartman dressing up like a robot and [screwing] with Butters, Parker told The Los Angeles Times in June while promoting Despicable Me 3, "because to me that's the bread and butter of South Park: kids being kids and being ridiculous and outrageous and not 'did you see what Trump did last night?' Because I don't give a [sh*t] anymore. We could probably put up billboards--'Look what we're going to do to Trump next week!'--and get crazy ratings. But I just don't care... Matt and I hated it, but we got stuck in it somehow."
>>86833474
That's fantastic news.
>Little Quiet Redneck Mountain Town
>Uncle Fucka
>Blame Canada
>Kyle's Mom is a Big Fat Bitch
>What Would Brian Boitano Do?
>La Resistance Lives On
>That Mountain Town reprise at the end
Man, that movie was classic. I wish Trey Parker and Matt Stone did more musicals.
>>86833953
>I wish Trey Parker and Matt Stone did more musicals
Anon...
>>86832799
It's the only good movie adaption of a cartoon.
>>86834184
are you forgetting about the spengleborp movie
>>86834061
I'm well-aware of Cannibal the Musical and The Book of Mormon, I mean more than that!
>>86833474
Nice. The last season was probably the worst of all.
not laughing when bill gates is shot in the face
>>86834184
Beavis and Butthead Do America is miles better
>>86833474
>and not 'did you see what Trump did last night?' Because I don't give a [sh*t] anymore. We could probably put up billboards--'Look what we're going to do to Trump next week!'--and get crazy ratings. But I just don't care... Matt and I hated it, but we got stuck in it somehow."
>gear the plot of almost an entire season of your show towards one presidential candidate winning the ongoing election
>they lose
>scramble together a shitty new ending because you didn't plan for this eventuality
>everyone hates it and you
>YEAH WELL I DIDN'T WANT TO PLAY THAT STUPID GAME ANYWAY
>>86832853
>way more preachy
This is how you can tell someone is asspained because they feel like they belong to a group that has been made fun of by the show. They mostly just make fun of everyone without really trying to convince you of anything 99% of the time. They have only really taken a strong stance once, and that was being against Trump. And well, if you disagreed with that, your opinion doesn't matter anyway.
>>86834536
>And well, if you disagreed with that, your opinion doesn't matter anyway.
oh boy here we go...
>>86834392
Whatever the reason, I'm happy they're going back to the old format.
They haven't had a strong season since 17, which is really underrated imo
>World War Zimmerman
>Taming Strange
>Goth kids vs emotional kids episode
>Console Wars/Black Friday/GoT parody 3 parter which I liked more than most
Great thread, another one that goes down with minimal replies. How come this board is so dead except for the game of thrones threads? Considering everyone claims they dislike game of thrones they seem to exclusively post on its threads. How ironic, isn't it?
>>86832853
South Park is one of the only cartoons that in my opinion hasn't gone down in quality much over time. I can still giggle at an episode of South Park. I can't do that with The Simpsons or Family Guy.
This last season was a mistake with them fucking about the with the election because you could tell they had the whole thing building up to a Trump loss. It all kind of fell flat. That's basically how more than half the country felt though so it worked in a sobering way.
Still a damn funny show.
South Park lost its touch right around the World of Warcraft episode. What happened to this fucking show? The jokes and the writing used to be so clever
Pic related, this entire episode is gold
>>86836427
/tv/ right now is in /got/ general mode and it's standard /pol/-wrapped bait thread mode which is a permanent effect card and not able to be wiped off the table.
>>86832799
The first half is great, then it winds down big time
>>86833439
underage
>>86832799
It's fucking great but Trey and Matt outdid themselves with Team America. Frankly, that movie is their Magnum Opus.
>>86836540
Just permanently post with sages in these threads and wipe them out, and actively bump threads not pertaining to GOT. If you are posting in the GOT thread as one of the people that go there to explain why they dislike the show, just sage it while you are in so you don't promote the discussion of a single show. I have been trying to discuss multiple things in this board over the past few days, it is quite literally impossible. It is an awful feeling to be so hardly ignored if I am honest, specially when seeking a memeless unbiased discussion.
Haha, just kidding. Turn your brain off lmao.
>>86836441
No cartoon/comedy show can maintain pure gold at any time. I'd retaliate that South Park has been the most consistent in quality though over the years.
>>86832799
This show was golden. The season which had insheeption was the last time I legit laughed. This show had humour on various levels and didn't give a fuck. Past couple seasons have been a drag. I hope they give it an epic send off or this show will just lose its legacy
>early South Park
Disintegration is the best album ever
>>86836662
>memeless unbiased discussion
>on /tv/
Oh dear. This place hasn't been a meme production plant for years, summer or /got/ aside. There must be greener pastures somewhere else. Good luck.
Oh my. It's best to move on.
>>86836851
Some memes are alright, but a pair of (you)s is all I ask for. Things like this, simply talking to someone about something in a normal discussion, even with jokes within the text, are the things I enjoy while shitposting. Just, like right now.
>>86833474
wish they retconned everything past season 15.
i mean it has some good episodes but South Park earlier seasons have so much more charm being just kids discovering things and trying to find a way to have fun in some random town in colorado, and the crazy episodes were crazy enough to be fun and not a satire of current news.
>It is a 3 episodes story arc
there is not a single good one episode in this format
>>86834375
Unironically one of my favorite comedies.
>>86836427
>How come this board is so dead except for the game of thrones threads?
Because the userbase has abandoned this place and the only people left are tourists here for game of thrones.
>>86837182
What's the point of a media dedicated board if you post some obscure film and no one bothers to hand a (you).
>>86832799
In addition to being an entertaining movie which skillfully captures its zeitgeist, the South Park movie also happens to be an /excellent/ musical. The quality of the arrangement, leitmotifs and recall of the various pieces is such that it forces the discerning appreciator of art to acknowledge its brilliance as an example of the musical form.
If there is one genre of which Trey and Matt are absolute masters, above all others, it is the musical. The gays who know such things acknowledge their cred on this point.
>>86836940
Well here's another you, friend. A bump for what should be a more fleshed out thread. South Park is a damn good show though all these years later.
