People here only like that film because they relate to it too much. Prove me wrong.

STOP OF CREATE THREADS ABOUT THAT MOVIE

Why?

I believe the movie is about true love.
There are hints throughout the movie that they've been together before and as much as they erase eachother from their memory they are cursed to get back together.

the point is that life is hard and trying to forget wont get you over something bad that happened. Also that by forgetting you are likely to make the same mistakes again. It just makes you think a bit about life - most people have experienced something they would like to forget and can sympathize somewhat with the main character. The movie makes most viewers reflect on their own lives. Thats what Kauffman does with his scripts/movies.
Some find it pretentious. Personally I enjoy it.

>Implying a Kaufman film would ever have a happy message
It's a film about doomed relationships that will never work
The whole relationship told in reverse thing is so sad to me. Usually things disintegrate, but in this you start at the worst period, so going back everything seems to work out. Then the place where there'd normally be a happy ending is changed into the horrible realisation that it's all fucked and there's no bringing it back.

Bc I was in love until a few weeks ago by someone who has already forgotten me for 6 months.
Isn't the point that even if a situation was bad, it's still better to keep the memory than to forget all about it? Is like the whole better to have loved and lost thing but with a twist.

I first watched this movie with my girlfriend at the time. I thought it was pretty good, but pretentious.
I watched it again after we broke up, and I suddenly understood it completely.

Yeah, you need to have suffered to understand.
>>86824250
Not really though. I'd rather not risk suffering.
