Because he's a bad actor. The only thing he was good at was portraying an amateur drug dealer who does nothing but cry over his conscience all the time the entire series. Given the fact he looks like the guy who played Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter added to the bad guy look. He's not much of an actor for any other type of character to portray and he's become too familiar as Jesse Pinkman. He was bankable for a while just like Emilia Clarke and Daniel Radcliffe but once the hype ends (because they all tend to pick films like Nicolas Cage) they'll be lucky if they get to star in low budget indie flicks.

NFS flopped hard, the alcoholic film was ok, but The Path is actually a pretty great drama and he's good in it
