show is different from both the original seasons and fwwm, but it's more similar to fwwm\last episode of season 2 than anything else.

It's real good, the mood, the visuals and sound in many scenes is top notch.

if I had to find a flaw, is that there is not much connectivity between scenes (even if the plot does progress forward). The most interesting stuff is happening around Evil Coop, the fbi investigating on him, and retard Coop. But the show feels the need to return to twin peaks even when it could be skipped. There is a fan service subplot regarding Big Ed\ Norma Nadine, which is not very well done and is pure wish fullfilment\fan service. There was no reason to have James back if not for a short cameo. Having said that, I find the tp police scenes amusing, and some other twin peaks scenes are top kino (richard horne, Steve in the forest)

3rd season is awesome, don't believe the flaws discussed around (in order of retardedness: the plot does not progress forward, "why is cooper still a retard", "why doesn't the show take place entirely in twin peaks?" all retarded and fake criticism)

the biggest flaw is that among all the courage they had, they didn't have the courage to minimize the actual twin peaks setting and focus more on the plot, so the jumping around to the billion storylines is not always perfect- again, there was no need to dedicate time at all to the big ed\norma\nadine storyline, no reason to feature james so much

the most courageous and correct decision they made: have Cooper be a retard for most of the season, don't focus on twin peaks the settings

don't get me wrong, I'm not too hung up with big ed storyline. I was just trying to analyze the series critically. Was having this plot in good from an artistic point of view? Does it add anything to the Evil Coop\Retard Coop storyline? Could all the cameo sequences be released separately ala the missing pieces, preserving the kino of the rest of the return, undiluted?

anyway, it doesn't matter that much to me, just trying to analyze the series here

and to understand where I'm coming from, I wasn't a fan of all the pointless subplots of season 1\2, definitely not a strong point for me. Bobby\shelly\leo was interesting for example and it tied into the main plot, but Big Ed and Nadine and the other guy was soap opera stuff, James and Donna were dull even if they tied into the main sarah plot

I get it, for what it's worth, I didn't mind it in the old series either. Hell, I think even the second season was never less than watchable. In my opinion what you call soap opera stuff is a big part of the series' identity and, especially in the old show, was what made the town itself come alive.

In the new series, even some of the stuff not involving the characters from the old show is doesn't really have much significance to the plot. That caretaker in Buckhorn, 119 Lady, that puking girl in the car... I don't expect them to be brought up again but they make the world come alive more.
