Opinions on this film?

watch only yesterday for truly animated romance
I think I've given this director more than a fair chance to impress me by watching all of is films, yet none of them have connected.
This was the one that made me give up on him completely.
Couldn't get into the cheesy humour at the beginning and as it went on found it increasingly manipulative dramatically.
The time travel shtick was contrived and a get out of jail free card.
The character designs were plain and both protagonists felt kind of flat.
Good animation and some impressive scenary/background art though.

Why didn't the Nazguls drop bombs at the city, the same bombs that they used to blow up the wall at Helm's Deep.
Did Sauron forget that bombs exist in the lotr universe?
>>78884589
You mean Saruman's "bombs"?
Because the Lord of the Rings isn't logic - and by that I mean, it doesn't follow the "logic" of the empirical, contemporary world; it follows the logic of fantasy and myth, in which events and actions aren't just themselves but semiotically charged signifiers for existential stages of the human condition.
Helm's Deep is an artistic accretion symbolising the struggle between Technè and Physis, between Technology and Natur
Minas Tirith is hope in all of its moments, it's affirmation, negation and renewal
Talking about it in terms of logic is idiotic mate

Me too. Can't fucking wait, it's the only tv series I feel like watching. The politics are so simple and yet so deeply FELT, at the same time. Can't help but feel a little insurgent hard-on come up everytime I hear Wameku fo imalowda, éreluf beltalowda, owkwa beltawlowda!

When they started to take advice from Reddit in AMAs
>OP is more autistic than Abed was
Just watched Sorcerer's Stone for the first time ever. I read the books up to number 4 back when they came out.
The movie had a lot of "well why would you do that, you fucking moron" moments. And a lot of "well why dont the adult expert wizards do this?" moments. But it was comfy and entertaining enough.
Does the series get better? Should I watch the next one and keep going?

>Sorcerer's Stone
Literally and unironically fuck off and kill yourself you ameriplebilarditard
>>78884006
Not really, that's all you need to see from one of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.
"No!"
