>McBride explained: You know, it's not a remake. It's actually, it's gonna continue the story of Michael Myers in a really grounded way. And for our mythology, we're focusing mainly in the first two movies and what that sets up and then where the story can go from there.
>Green and I are definitely going to [do] a straight-up horror. Halloween has always been one of my favorite movies of all time. There's a simplicity and an efficiency to that first one that I think allows the movies just to be scary as hell. And so Green and I, our approach is to get back to that.
Excited or at least interested in this new Halloween project?

Anyway, I thought it was great. Mostly what I expected out of Winding Refn. Top scenes included the party, the triangle scene at the fashion show, what happened in the morgue, and the Ruby montage towards the end.
What did /tv/ think?

Sssh, don't tell anyone but I actually liked it.
If you compartmentalise at least.
Loved the colours and imagery, loved the themes, wasn't just "Modelling dehumanises people" schtick actually had a proper look at corruption, vanity and narcissism without copping out and attaching it to other themes like money and fame.
Didn't take the easy route and go "She had sex and so is tainted" either. Leaves a few things up for interpretation which was nice.
Didn't like how short it felt, it would have benefitted alot from being longer and fleshing out the processes of corruption and the subtle witchcraft we see. That kind of made it all a little unsatisfying to me. Also I think Elle Fanning wasn't right for the role really. As a result it felt kinda rushed, and it's definately not the kind of movie that gets a sequal.
We can hope someone reimagines the themes and keeps the visual style for a better movie in the future I guess.

This is almost 3 fucking hours of some idiot trying to cope with the death of his wife on a "space station".
People call this the Russian 2001? You must be out of your fucking mind if you think this slow, vapid and pretentious piece of garbage even holds a candle to 2001.
The shots are prolonged unnecessarily, everyone talks and moves in slow motion, Sartorius and Snaut's characters are basically irrelevant, there's a fucking 5 minute sequence of the guy who told his story just driving his kid while a machine-like noise blares in your ears and the answer to Kelvin's problem is nothing more than the harsh reality that is life: shit happens. Why do you need 167 minutes of someone's life to "explain" (word used very loosely) all of this shit is beyond me.
