If the american wizards are supposedly way stricter in their non interaction with muggles and want to distance themselves from them so desperately, how come they are copying literally every aspect of normie culture while the brits and every other nationality of wizards are actually living on their own terms with their own customs and traditions etc.?
And why is this movie trying so very hard to make a non harry potter, harry potter movie where everything is a watered down version with an american flag stamped onto it and made slightly bigger.
Why did they sell out so hard?
They didn't even try with the magical creatures, it was all generic as shit and to top it all off the big bad is just another fucking particle effects cloud.
It's fucking shameful how creatively bankrupt hollywood has become. Especially the shallow display they managed to present in this movie when the title is fucking Fantastic Beasts.

What were you expecting from a prequel to one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises?. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody, just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.
>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."
I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

This post really made me think.
I think that makes him a fairly decent interviewer, he has some strong opinions but would much rather have his guest talk for the most part.

Did Antony truly love Atia?
>>79799330
Atia and Antony were both so jaded that they weren't capable of understanding the concept of love.
>>79799633
Atia did get really upset when Antony wouldn't even come out to see her in Alexandria.
Slapping Vorenus and all that.
>>79799816
Never really thought of it this way before, but is it not having Antony anymore, or is it being inferior to another woman, so to speak? I mean, I guess it's both

http://m.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/entertainment/news/its-a-scary-time-for-the-world-says-martin-scorsese-35480456.html
>Referring to the rise of global terrorism, Mr Scorsese said that the aftermath of the 2003 Iraq invasion "had created thousands and thousands of Travis Bickles."
>"They say they have nothing to lose," he added.
>Bickles is the depressed loner at the centre of his classic 1976 thriller Taxi Driver who is drawn to violence in his disgust against the decadence and sleaze he perceives around him.
>Mr Scorcese was in Dublin to collect a gold medal from Trinity College's Philosophical Society.
I can't help but feel this is a reference to us..."young men with nothing to lose"
>>79795727
No mate, I think he's talking about the young men in Iraq. If you're American and you think you have "nothing to lose," you don't actually understand what that phrase means
