In 1973, hunter-tracker James Conrad (Tom Hiddleston) is hired by government agent Bill Randa (John Goodman) to guide an survey expedition to an uncharted island in the Pacific Ocean known as "Skull Island". Randa recruits a military unit led by Colonel Preston Packard (Samuel L. Jackson) to escort them there, and the group is later joined by photojournalist Mason Weaver (Brie Larson), who believes the survey to be a cover for a military operation and plans to expose it.
Arriving in Skull Island, Packard's men begin dropping explosives developed by seismologist Houston Brooks (Corey Hawkins) to determine if the the ground is hollow, despite Conrad's objections. Suddenly, the helicopters are attacked by the mighty Kong and the team is separated in smaller groups. Packard confronts Randa, who reveals his affiliation to the secret government organization Monarch and the expedition's true purpose to acquire evidence that monsters exist. Packard and his remaining men then begin braving the creatures of Skull Island to rescue the missing members of the expedition.
Meanwhile, Conrad, Weaver, Brooks and biologist San Lin (Jing Tian) run into the local natives and meet Hank Marlow (John C. Reilly), an American pilot who has been stranded on Skull Island since World War II. Marlow reveals that Kong is the island's guardian and is worshipped as a god for the natives for protecting them to the Skull Crawlers, reptilian monsters that live underground. Kong's ancestors were slaughtered by the Skull Crawlers, leaving him as the rest of his kind, and he only attacked the helicopters to prevent their bombs from awakening the dormant Skull Crawlers, but it's too late and they are already targeting the stray humans.
The two groups eventually meet up and plan to leave the island, but Packards insists on searching for his right-hand man, Major Jack Chapman (Toby Kebbell), who is still unaccounted for. Marlow leads them to the Forbidden Zone, where they are attacked by a Skull Crawler that has already killed Chapman and kills Randa as well. Conrad manages to lure it into a trap and the soldiers kill it. Packard blames Kong for the death of his men and rallies the surviving soldiers to retrieve explosives and lure Kong into a trap. Conrad and Weaver prevent Packard from killing Kong and point out Kong was only defending himself and protecting them from the Skull Crawlers. The soldiers decide to spare Kong and prepare to leave with Conrad and Weaver, but Packard refuses to let him go.
Suddenly, the group is attacked by the Skull Crawlers, and Packard stays behind as the others flee, intending to detonate the explosives once the Skull Crawler is close enough that the blast will kill both it and Kong, but Kong manages to escape and crushes Packard, but is then defeated by the Skull Crawler, which then chases the survivors as they race towards the boat. Captain Earl Cole (Shea Whigham) attempts to sacrifice himself to kill the pursuing Skull Crawler, but is killed before he can. The creature then ambushes the humans but is then killed by the returning Kong. Aided by Weaver, Kong kills the remaining Skull Crawlers with explosives left behind by Packard and rescues Weaver after she is thrown into the river by the explosion. Kong then allows the remaining humans - Conrad, Weaver, Marlow, Brooks, Lin, Glenn Mill (Jason Mitchell), Blake Simpson (Thomas Mann) and Marcos Reles (Eugene Cordero) - return to civilization.
In an after-credits scene, Conrad and Weaver are detained by Monarch and informed by Brooks and Lin that Kong is not the only monster to roam the world, as archive footage shows cave paitings of a battle between Godzilla, Mothra, Rodan and King Gidorah.

plus researching anywhere seems like an obvious honeypot
i watch all my films over a year after they come out because i don't know where to get them ;_:
These four movies get so much hate as superhero movies, but I think we can all admit that they're each better than anything in the MCU or DCEU.
>>79996363
I never admitted that!
>>79996363
Nah.
Incredible Hulk and Iron Man were the best MCU movies. First Thor and Cap were also pretty good. Then Paramount and Universal stopped making Marvel movies.

JUST
trailer looked pish anyways.
king kong as a property is so unbelievably dated it just seems sad trying to make it into some sort of edgy action flick that you can market to the young adult demo. say what you will about Jackson's version, at least he had the right idea to take an almost whimsical approach to something so far-fetched.
>>79995822
The trailer looked like total shit. I got fucking bored watching a fucking trailer.
When they said that skull quip I just turned it off. What a fucking joke.
>>79995822
It's a good thing I don't need to watch this because they've already released 8 different trailers, a few full scenes, and the post credit scene before the movie even came out.

Remember When Kevin Smith Sent Out The Worst Tweet Of All Time?
"They didn't SAAAAAAVE your life"
"They stole it"
Why is the screen writing team so proud of this line? To the point where they placed it in every trailer?
>>79995202
Screenwriters don't generally have any influence on how trailers are edited.

Explain to me why having more diverse characters in TV and film is a bad thing.
Look at all the highest rated TV shows. The Walking Dead, Modern Family, Game of Thrones; they're all diverse and that's why they're so great.

>The Walking Dead, Modern Family, Game of Thrones
>they're all diverse
>that's why they're so great
>emma stone OP pic
This is beginner bait.
>>79993772
How so?
Explain to me what diversity really means.
Then explain to me if it's wrong if Chinese, Indian, Japanese, Russian, Latin-American, productions also needs that diversity to be good.
