Hey guys, just reminding you about the /tv/ discord. We're trying to get some life back into it and restore it to being a little more active
The goal is to have a comfy place to talk about movies and film, the state of /tv/ or just talk, or whatever. We'll try and get a regular stream schedule going too. I'll be streaming The Big Lebowski in the next 20 minutes for a cozy friday movie night.
Anyway, heres the link:

>"I guess I got what I deserved"
Why? Walt was merely a product of shit circumstances, nothing more, nothing less.
>emotionally abused by his wife for years
>was at the point of having no friends outside of her family and narrow choice of friends, textbook sign of abuse
>sole breadwinner for his family, holding two jobs so that his wife didn't have to work in spite of their son being nearly an adult
>emotionally blackmailed by his wife at several points
>after years of abuse he snaps
The worst part is that you can't even bring this up with normies, and the internet was full of cries of "Walter White is a domestic abuser" anytime he laid hands on Skyler. The whole thing sort of shines a light on how abuse of males by females isn't taken seriously.
I'll take the obvious bait. BB is a morality tale. Walt made moral decisions that led him down a road where multiple people died. This show is wonderful because the violence is never glorified and it all has consequences. Chain reactions, chemistry, blah blah.

MOAR
>The film follows the classic character from the “Robin Hood” stories. In this new take, Marian picks up the cause to lead her people into a pivotal war after the love of her life, Robin Hood, dies. She comes to power, charging into a battle that will not only decide the fate of the kingdom, but also see her don the mantle of the man she loved.

>Robbie beat out Jennifer Lawrence, Daisy Ridley, Alicia Vikander, and Brie Larson for the part
sounds like a trainwreck
Well, aside from Brie she's the most talented actress there, but why is anyone but Jen even auditioning for this role (aside from money of course).
Each of them already has an action/adventure franchise they are currently working on or about to start... Still, this concept sounds like hot, hot fucking trash. There are already dueling Robin Hood movies in development.
>>80170922
Yeah that other Robin Hood film is a prequel story called Robin Hood Origin.
>I feel that it captures the adventure and the fun and the spirit of Robin Hood, but because it’s the origin story—it’s a kid going off to war thinking he’s going on a great Crusade, and realizing it’s all bullshit and coming back with some PTSD and realizing he’s been lied to, and coming back to kind of a fractured society that doesn’t really accept him and realizing, ‘Okay the super rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer.’
http://collider.com/robin-hood-origins-set-photos/#eve-hewson
Marian at least seems to be a new take on the story, given that its a sequel story. RB Origin sounds like the same Robin Hood story we've seen before but this time with PTSD
recommend me of movies where a bunch of friends hang around or just have fun together.
I want to feel like I have friends for the duration of the movie.

Snores, farts and pizza-beer odor.
Pros
>the action scenes with Kong are legitimately well done and visually arresting for a modern blockbuster
>John C. Reilly is the best character in the movie and his jokes landed well
>Jackson and Goodman have good performances
Cons
>Kong isn't in it as much as you'd hope, though he definitely had more screentime than Godzilla '14
>no, we spend most of the movie with the bland as hell human characters and those stupid lizards. Outside of the three actors I mentioned, they're an odd mix of generic Tour of Duty style soldier characters that only exist to get killed off in horrifying ways, and young, attractive jokey MCU blockbuster characters who are there to never get hurt and sequel bait for the cinematic universe.
>they make no great use of the post-Vietnam setting outside of pulling a Guardians of the Galaxy and filling the film to the brim with classic 70s songs
>The script is below B-movie tier
>the editing is horrible (around the climax Kong fights a giant Skullcrawler at night and gets defeated, only for the movie to cut into day time with the remaining characters running away from the lizard and Kong showing up out of nowhere to save them)
>the director is clearly ripping off better movies (Jurassic Park, Aliens, Predator, Apocalypse Now, Full Metal Jacket, Guardians of the Galaxy, etc) to no great effect. There's no single clear directorial vision through the entire thing, it feels like a movie made by committee. The tone is all over the place much like Suicide Squad.
>speaking of tone the comedy in this is movie is as bad as the trailers make it out to be. A lot of MCU style jokes where the characters quip back and forth in tense situations. Only John C. Reilley pulls it off.
>there a lot of unearned references to Apocalypse Now/Heart of Darkness that serve no purpose but to impress redditors
>Brie Larson does nothing but look surprised and tries to hit on Loki. Oh wait she shoots a flare at a skullcrawler which was retarded as fuck
>Loki himself has a scene where he cuts out some flying pterodactyls and does nothing else
>Chinese actress is ONLY there to pander to China, has terrible broken English and does literally nothing
>Corey Hawkins does an okay job but there's not much to his character, he feels that Goodman is attempting to do is too dangerous and that's it. He and the chink get off Scott free despite being partly responsible for the deaths of the soldiers because they knew what the real mission was.
>Tobey Kebbell is there to only have a comedic death scene where Samuel L Jackson is forcing everybody to look for him and the movie reveals he was eaten when a skullcrawler coughs his skeleton up. This is another example of being tonally confusing as Toby's character is set up to care a lot about his son and wrote letters to him frequently while in Vietnam.
>Samuel L Jackson has a reasonable motivation to try to kill Kong, movie tries to portray him as the bad guy despite it not being his fault he was lied to about his mission. King Kong crushes him to death.
>John Goodman is good but he dies very early on in this movie's "raptor kitchen" ripoff scene. I found this odd since he's the Carl Dunham expy and he's never died in a Kong film.
>John C. Reilley's Marlow is the only character that is fully developed and that you care about.
>Kong as a character was serviceable for the movie but his sapience really makes you question his actions, like killing and eating people who didn't do anything wrong to him but sparring Brie Larson despite being apart of their group.
>CG on the Skullcrawlers looked pretty bad and they clip a few times through out the movie
>>80170583
>>John C. Reilly is the best character in the movie and his jokes landed well
totally not full of shit, this guy.
>>80170583
Sorry Disney, you'll have to try harder than that to stop Kino Kong from happening.

What'd you guys think? I just got out and have mixed feelings.
I feel like the experience black and white people will have watching this movie will be fundamentally different. There's a lot of reading between the lines that made the experience quite enjoyable. TL;DR: I liked it.
>>80041458
I saw it with a LOT of black people. Lots of applause at the end
>>80041458
>>80041609
I heard watching this with a bunch of black people is one of the funniest movie experiences ever
Just marathoned the first episode last night. What did I think about it? Am I going to get caught up to season 2?
>>80170379
You think it's pretty good but they take too many liberties from the source which you happen to like a lot and it's sort of pissing you off.
Still a pretty great show, as long as it strives for accuracy in all things Newtonian I'll be pleased.
>>80170379
You think it sets up a fascinating setting of politics and espionage in a human-inhabited solar system, but somehow isn't able to sustain it and becomes generic sci fi as it goes on. Regardless, you will still enjoy it for it's visuals, music, and characters.
>>80170379
you found out that all dumb scenes on Earth were there because it's a book adaptation.
>ambitious
>smart
>has good friends
>great with the ladies
>suit and tie but knows how to party
>only guy he fucks is the most evil man in the city, if not the world
>throws great company parties for his employees
Can anyone tell me why Bob Morton is considered one of the villains of this movie? He’s an aspiration character for all of us.
>>80041098
op, you missed
>no sticky when he died.
onb4 OooOooOOO peter o' toole
>>80041098
Well, he had Murphy transferred to the black part of town because he knew he'd be killed quickly and he could use his body. Murphy could have said no though. Also Bob Morton did it for the right reasons, to racially cleanse the ghetto and make Detroit great again.
>>80041098
