I anything it's overrated because of RDJ's brilliant performance. If they had made him the main character and shot it entirely as a fake documentary on the making of the Tropic Thunder movie without the lost in the jungle plot it could have been a real cult classic.

I watched it again, it doesn't hold up at all. Like all Ben Stiller movies 80% of the 'comedy' is mugging for the cameras.

I think that they made 3000 copies and sold every single one. Self-publishing is risky and you can only do so much but if what you make sells you do much better per sale than if you go to a big publisher. The flip-side is that if you bomb it hurts you badly.

they had no fucking clue where the 'story' was going. alice's superpowers were immediately retconned, as well as her clone army.
every movie has basically the same mindless videogame plot, they even show us and alice a mapscreen at the beginning and tell us the objectives. there's really no reason to try and connect the dots.
