anime has these bizarre, one-dimensional characters and a complete lack of humor. most of it seems to be puerile escapism where the viewer can self-insert with some outsider character who becomes powerful or important. the simpsons, family guy, or any other cartoon comedy has realistic, human characters that provide humor through believable, fallible psychogical profiles and/or cultural references. no one is watching these shows going "wow wouldn't it be way cooler to live in this world/if I lived in this world things would be different" like they do wth anime. hell, even a show like spongebob is more intellectually stimulating than most anime.

stupid people. mainly in the south. Went down to houston and there is duck dynasty gear in all the stores, and all they talk about is duck dynasty. shows like honeyboboo,, american pickers, storage wars, etc. are basically the fastfood of TV. you can watch a few episodes and retain your sanity, but if that's all you consume, you turn into the quintessential burger. there are literally millions of fat, scooter-bound americans that do nothing but watch these shows all day.

I can understand people still watching it because they've been doing so for years, you might as well stick around until the end but the people that have been watching since the beginning and still defend it even though it is noticeably much worse quality and just plain lazy makes no sense.
