I'm not gonna let Average Hivemind Joe, trying to defend his intelligence, ruin this movie.
For years, mainstream counter-culture (we) have been fed the same lines again and again. Lines we all silently agree are said by smart people, smart sources.
One of them is that the source material tends to be better than the Hollywood adaptation. Another one is that movies are worse off for not having nuanced philosophical messages and tones.
These popular opinions that we've adopted as objective facts are why many reviewers didn't like this movie.
>The movie was shallow
Shallow compared to your tastes. Shallow as seen by your bias.
Ghost in the Shell was an amazing movie. It wasn't meant to be an exact replica of the 1995 anime. And it doesn't need to compare itself to the standards of that time and that format.
It was a blockbuster origin story. They took what they knew they needed to do for a blockbuster, an "uncool" Major, a lead who could actually rival the leads of recent blockbusters (the ones that the general public like), and a familiar, comfortable narrative, and they fucking made it as Ghost in the Shell and as badass as they possibly could.

You're wrong but, sure, nice blog.

Why would a traditionally asian character be cast as white?
The problem isn't the movie itslef, but the casting. and when you have bad casting, you have a bad movie.
>>81106741
Then we have something like >>81106481 going exactly against what you're saying.
Who should I believe in?
Here's a good thread for /tv/. Post a movie made in the last 10 years that you believe is a literal masterpiece and why.
No Batman V Superman.
Drive Angry
>>81106675
No film deserving of the title "Masterpiece" has been made in the last 10 years.
I've liked a lot of whats come out in the last decade, I'm just sayin'
Dawn of Justice
I am the only Cerseifag here? fuck this shit she have to win
She's an example for sisters everywhere.
But in all seriousness we can't let this lady get the wildfire codes.
>>81106588
0 chance she wins
endgame is dany and jon vs walkers
Was it incest?
>>81106561
It's not incest if they're both dead. Then it's just necrophilia.
>>81106850
Can't it be both?
>>81106561
What shitty flick is this?
Your favorite movie
I really like American Psycho.

not bad bateman but take a look at this..
Superior Legion waifu coming thru
So i'm not very well versed in weeb culture, but aren't waifus usually attractive?
>>81106554
Legion is like a fucking japanese dating rpg with these female characters.
>qt blonde who can never get close to anyone because of her body-swap power
>qt ambiguous race tough girl who is literally a sub-person of another guy
>qt damaged white girl who's always been with you (BAD END)
I like it.
>>81106554
she's a qt
but I'm so disgusted by that transgender nu-male thing that is always next to her
What the fuck was society's problem?
Be honest guys, if you were the brother and your sister was that much of a qt, you would fuck her too right
He contracted AIDS when he was in Africa

>implying I didn't try
Just watched GitS 2017. As a huge fan of the original movie and SAC[1] who expected to walk out of the theater, here's my thoughts.
The Good
>lots of respectful nods and references from the movies and animes (seriously, lots of shit you'd only notice if you watched everything)
>Batou looks as good as a live action rendition can look
>Togusa's gun
>Steve Aoki's criminal wubstep remix wasn't in the movie
>Aramaki does some cool shit
>non-human CGI is very decent
The Bad
>remember how I said the CGI is actually good? well, too bad, the art direction isn't. lots of ~glitchy~ ~flashy~ shit
>Scarlett Johansson only read the first 3 lines of the script where it said she was an android and acts like she's a completely lifeless, emotionless dumb robot. she even walks like one. wtf
>Aramaki is a pussy for half the movie who gets told to shut the fuck up and just accepts it instead of being a hard but fair and just boss
>Aramaki is also the *only* character that doesn't speak English. he speaks Japanese, which is actually nice - but he's the only one. if more characters spoke other languages this would've been great
>they did cast scarjo for an asian role, but at least they kinda give a reason for it. (which is probably another problem on its own)
>fights have bad choreography. surely they could afford a good person for fight choreography?
The Ugly
>you know all the philosophical themes of gits? they just glance over it (and then give it a happy ending! dw major you human af senpai)
>scarjo needs to be here too. fucking hell someone tell her that's not what she's supposed to be doing
>weak villain. very weak
>the one liners. more than once did i say "well that wasn't a bad scene huh" and they came and dropped some lame one liner that killed my suspension of disbelief
>the female section 9 member was blatantly irrelevant. if they wanted to add diversity they could at least have made her do something interesting . pretty lame, and i'm not some /pol/fag who cares about this shit.
>>81106481
So, in other words, it sucked.
I know nothing about GitS but I want some popcorn. Should I go see it?
>>81106512
I honestly went in with such low expectations that I was actually positively surprised. I really did expect to be offended and walk out of the theater.
While there were a lot of things that made me go WHY it was watchable.
On a Popcorn Scale from 0 to 10, it's a Popcorn-7. Not completely trash, has some redeeming points, mostly the references they didn't mess up.
>>81106529
Yeah, just don't expect anything deep that'll make you think for a week. Also watch the original movie and Stand Alone Complex, they're great.
So when did the whole "kino" thing start?
>>81106414
I'm still not really clued in to it.
I took Polish class in school and I remember it means "movie theatre."
>>81106414
1900
>>81106414
I came to /tv/ after months of hiatus and everyone was saying some variation of "kino". My first instinct was to cringe and call out normies on for their shitty joke, but then I remembered that this place went to shit a long time ago and this must be what it's like when some people came back to everyone saying "pleb". Really enjoying raimiposting though.
>They're coming to get you Barbara!
>>81106328
>tfw babs goes nuts and is just a burden
>>81106367
Holy shit, how did I miss that joke all these years?
thoughts on this badboy?
Much cuter movie than I was expecting.
>>81106222
wtf i hate niggers now
>What are all you fish heads looking at anyway?
> If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a gang banger will get shot, or a truckload of soldiers will be blown up, nobody panics, because it's all "part of the plan". But when I say that one little old mayor will die, well then everyone loses their minds!
Was he a war vet?
>>81106116
He was a kid in Burma who had all his tangerines replaced with diamonds.
>>81106156
I don't even get his point. Why is killing some people a part of the plan? Shouldn't it be about saying that he'll kill someone and then killing someone else, ergo going against the plan?
>>81106156
Uh...you don't get to bring Tangerines.
would you watch a movie dealing with 9/11?
>>81106099
What if it turns out jet fuel can melt steel beams?
>>81106099
if the mudslimes made a movie like Pearl Harbor, but about 9/11, i would probably watch it, even though i hate islam
>two buildings collapsing
Sounds boring senpai
Serious question: Is there any movie with a sex scene that is on the same league as blue is the warmest color?
9 Songs doesn't count to me, it wasn't mainstream and the actors are unknowns unlike blue where the actors are still very popular.
>>81105691
The Dreamers.
>>81105725
That's a pretty good one. Eva green and michael Pitt to big stars
There's lots of nudity but not really explicit sex like blue from what i remember
>>81105691
>Prosthetic vaginas
