What is the best western movie of all time?
>>82564585
The Searchers
Giu La Testa or Once Upon a Time in The West.
Are there more film noirs in western settings?
Are Michael Bay movies truly so bad?
>>82564358
pain and gain is pure unadulterated kino
>>82564358
they aren't bad at all when you put them in perspective
they are extremely comfy to watch and provide great entertainment
Bay knows what he wants and he goes for it, which is more than I can say for a lot of director's today. Due to his past success Bay is given more freedom than other directors (and isn't micromanaged along the way). His no-excuses shlock at least feels like it has an artistic vision behind it, unlike most of what comes out of Hollywood these days.
After seeing Shin Gozilla I got a new question for the original. A question I have never thought of:
Where were the Americans back in 1954?
Why did the original movie act as if there were no Americans at all?
>>82564279
i mean did you ever put the actual time lines in perspective my dude?! do you even realize that 2008 is as far away as 1954 is from 1945
its not much when you really think about it. WW2 just ended and american piggus dropped Nukes on Japan and shit.
The older you get the more you realize how insane that WW2 Timeline and the following 15 years really are for the entire world. I guess a lot of people who actually fought in the wars died or else we would have a completely different situation at hand
>>82564349
I don't know what you mean. Why were the Americans not in the movie? Why didn't the director write a line or two about Americans ? Instead they pretend that Americans didn't exist
they did mention H-bomb test and Nagasaki though
>>82565060
>Why were the Americans not in the movie?

Is this the only truly great show about high school that's also realistic?
i also liked Daria, obviously its going to have cartoon comedy shenanigans but a lot of the issues the characters went through were pretty relevant

Kubrick apparently didn't get it either.
We did it, bros :^)
Is this movie good, or a piece of shit?
explain this
>>82564228
I thought it was hot garbage, but for some reason /tv/ likes it (probably because they just follow the opinions of RLM)
The dialogue was pretty shitty
The camera work was fucking awful in any scene that wasn't a CGI-boosted action sequence
There were WAY too many hamfisted emotional moments where NOTHING happened besides people sitting and talking about their feelings. Like, seriously
Drax and Mantis emotional talk
Gamora and Nebula emotional talk
Rocket and Yondu emotional talk
Multiple Peter and Ego emotional talks
Another awkward dance scene with Gamora where they're outside and listening to music?? Like, didn't we already do that in the first one?
Also the music felt a bit more... Forced? In the first one, the awesome mix was put in naturally to the movie and felt pretty cool. This one gives the awesome mix a Suicide Squad treatment and plays it just a bit too much.
My biggest issue is that there isn't really a goal until way into the movie.
Basically, the first 1/3 of the movie, they sort of just react to stuff until they meet the villain, who isn't really shown as a villain until late into the movie. The only other threat is this race of gold people that seemed more comically bumbling than threatening.
That was the biggest fucking offense was that they never let tension grow. Any time there was a scene that had any bit of tension or suspense, they'd crush it IMMEDIATELY by having the antagonist do something totally goofy or weird. The only times they actually let it get serious was during their myriad of emotional talks while sitting.
It was bad, I think. Worse than the first one to a major degree and probably my least favorite marvel movie.
At least it looked pretty.
