It's simple.

Mike Stoklasa has become the very thing he once ridiculed. Look at the Avatar review for instance; he spends 90 minutes going on about Cameron's blatant pandering to the lowest common denominator, marveling (no pun intended) at Cameron's proficieny for manipulating the audience to make them feel how he wants them to feel, how he wants them to think.

Fast forward a couple of years later. Jurassic World is released -- its heavily established to be a soft reboot operating on the hype of faux-nostalgia and Pratt's recent Guardians of the Galaxy success.

Mike loves it. Hits all the right buttons. Really gets his inner manchild going. He basically reveres the film to Jay Bauman's utter disgust.

This is the first sign of Stoklasa's downfall, his immediate descent into the anti-thesis of Mr. Plinkett. He's become lazy, brainwashed, unwittingly indoctrinated into the modern Hollywood machine sculpted by the likes of Disney executives.

It's October 2015. Disney gets in touch with Red Letter Media. They offer him a deal he simply can't refuse; he's instructed to praise Disney's numbered Star Wars episodes while taking critical albeit nonsensical liberties with the standalone films, all the while consistently spewing a casual commitment to every Marvel film that is released. Mike and his goons are heavily compensated for this, successfully turning the likes of the internet's pseuds into DDs (Disney Dudes).

The real enemy isn't Collider, or Loot Crate boxes.

It's Mike Stoklasa.

I liked it before when the Alien was just sort of a personification of Death, the cruelty of nature, and the "cosmic horror" that the universe doesn't revolve around earth, and there's shit out there that you cant imagine.

I didn't even think of it in terms of anything that complex because frankly, they aren't that scary.

Like, yeah, I wouldn't want to fight one on one with one, but that applies to tigers and wolves and shit on earth too, and I don't think they're some cosmic horror that's impossible to imagine.

Aliens are little more than horrific space bugs. Bad if you come across them on your own but any space faring society shouldn't consider them any real threat in the grand scheme of things. I'd be much more afraid of things like the Borg, Daleks, The Thing, ect.

The real problem is that Alien is an old property and no one cares about it anymore. No one's cared about it for decades now. But, it has an established brand so that will be milked. Still, no one actually cares about it.

Alien 3 was a failure because the studio relentlessly fought with David Fincher during filming and edited the film without any input from him. The assembly cut is the closest we'll ever get to a director's cut and it's not bad at all. It has flaws but it's by far the third best Alien film.

Prometheus was good and the Hobbit trilogy was a complete cash grab by the studio stuck in production hell which Jackson barely saved with his experience.

This isn't /co/, my good man. They're 24 boards to the left. Bring this up there, I'm sure you will have a very fulfilling conversation on the subject.

What makes it worse is in the past animation was not only more detailed, but required a metric fuck-ton more work, more animators to actually make the animations and whatnot, while today it's done on computers much faster, with less people.
