I just finished listening to this podcast. I found it fascinating, I'd highly recommend it. Jon Ronson, who wrote the book The Men Who Stare at Goats, and was also one of the co-writers of the movie Okja, investigates what the effects of the rise of tube sites like PornHub is having on porn producers, and the people who use the sites. It was really funny, and really sad in places, I was wondering what everybody else's take was.

One part made me seriously angry, when he talked with a porn star who got a text from her 13-year-old daughter while she was shooting a scene. Her daughter was in school the other kids had found her mom's videos on PornHub. She said that one kid asked the girl if there were any videos of her on PornHub as well, but the thing the girl was most upset about is that she saw a porn video that her mom made ON HER DAUGHTER'S BED. When the mom got home, after finishing her porn shoot of course, her daughter was so upset she had pulled all the sheets off her bed in disgust. I felt extreme hatred for that woman, especially because even after putting her daughter through that, she still goes off and makes porn, just not in her kid's room anymore. All of her friends know her mom's a whore, and it's the sickest thing I've ever heard.

The rest of it is really great though. A very interesting and entertaining listen.

Young man, I appreciate the lot of how you 4chan guys feel empowered to join the rest of us in civil society now that Pappa Bear Trump is telling you, it's okay. But let me send you a message. This is a blip. A temporary intifada. I know it feels good to have your worst instincts validated but don't be fooled. Use this opportunity now that you are out of your parents' basement to meet a few people that aren't like you. You are afraid. We are not.

Yeah as a kid I always got those two confused. I probably shouldn't criticize one of the most well-received authors of all time but authors really shouldn't make characters that have similar sounding names. In smaller stories you shouldn't even have characters whose names start with the same letters

Andy on the child actors returning for flashbacks:
>“On the second movie, that dialogue between timelines will be more present. If we’re telling the story of adults, we are going to have flashbacks that take us back to the ‘80s and inform the story in the present day.”

Barbara on getting the greenlight soon:
>“The hope is we’ll find the best way soon, because it’s also important for Andy to get flashbacks with the kids, who are growing very fast. They are an important component in the next film.”

Andy on the darker turn Mike takes in the sequel:
>“My idea of Mike in the second movie is quite darker from the book. I want to make his character the one pivotal character who brings them all together, but staying in Derry took a toll with him. I want him to be a junkie actually. A librarian junkie. When the second movie starts, he’s a wreck. [I wanted to] infuse more agency to him in those 30 years we don’t visit. He’s not just the collector of knowledge of what Pennywise has been doing in Derry. He will bear the role of trying to figure out how to defeat him. The only way he can do that is to take drugs and alter his mind. It resonates with what the kids do when they go to the smokehouse in the Barrens. By inhaling these fumes from the fire they have visions of It, and the origin of It, and the falling fire in the sky that crashed into Derry millions of years ago. We’ve brought that to Mike, by the end of those 30 years Mike has figured out the Ritual of Chüd.”

Andy on setting up Stan’s fate in the first movie:
>“There is something in the future for him, taking his own life, that finds its seed in this film. He is the one who doesn’t want to accept what’s going on. And being the one who didn’t want to participate he gets the worst part.”

Most intense cinematic experiences?

For me it would either be watching 2001 on a movie screen or watching Eraserhead on a movie screen.

Sasha Grey has an IQ way above the level of genius.

For entertainment, she watches the films of Fassbinder, Herzog, Truffaut, Godard, Bertolucci, Mallick amongst other even more obscure artists.

She understands the hypocrisy of contemporary morality and has exploited it to become a millionaire.

You have every superhero movie on Bluray.
>>
>>87657557
Would you go out with me Sasha? We can talk about existentialism.
