In all honesty "the world ending" is a very lazy way to end a story.
But carpenter likes to treat his movies more like propaganda films than a "family" movie, and i can understand why he would want to write about ideas that might lead to the end of the world.

Everything in Alien happens due to continued stupidity, in Aliens they're actually a trained unit and come up with a solid plan to survive. Makes the aliens seem more scary when they actually have to show some sort of intelligence to pick people off.

Bad casting. They wanted "Big Stars" but chose the wrong ones imo. There was no chemistry between any of them, it was just actors delivering lines. Vaughan was probably the worst, but the others weren't much better.

What is your favorite bad movie? Not obvious shit like Birdemic, but movies that actually had potential or a budget but were still bad.
I genuinely enjoy the shit out of Showgirls, not even just for masturbation purposes. I honestly find it endlessly entertaining and the dialogue is honestly funnier than most comedies. I have probably watched 5 or 6 times.

Not original, but a pretty decent horror film masquerading as hard-SF.
Once it established that no one was safe (whenReynoldsdied) and you saw how badly it fucked up that rat, it actually had some pretty taut suspense. Goodtwistending, too.
