go to bed, Tom
What are some movies about hopeless last stands? I feel like its a genre that would really be kino if done right, but for some reason there isnt much examples of it in movies, Katsumoto in The Last Samurai is the only example I can think of. Anyone know any other movies like that?

Letters From Iwo Jima.
>Universal's The Mummy, starring Tom Cruise, is getting buried by holdover Woman Woman at the Friday box office, according to early returns.
>The reboot — the first title in the studio's new monsters-themed Dark Universe — is projected to gross $11 million or so Friday, including $2.6 million in Thursday previews, for a dismal $30 million to $32 million domestic debut. The Mummy is off to a stronger start internationally.
>Wonder Woman, the hit superhero film directed by Patty Jenkins, remains a champ in its second weekend. The Warner Bros. movie is expected to earn $15 million Friday for a $51 million-plus weekend, a drop of less than 50 percent. That's almost unheard of for a superhero film.
>The Mummy needs to do well overseas, where Cruise still enjoys major star status, in order to avoid getting embalmed. So far, it is doing good business, earning $20.5 million through Thursday after opening in some territories midweek. And in China, it debuted to $18.7 million Friday to mark the biggest opening day for a film starring Tom Cruise. The star also scored his top opening day ever at the Russian box office Thursday with $1.6 million.
Chinks in charge of saving the Cruise. Too bad I've read that even in China the WOM is horrible.

WW was mediocre, but the Mummy looked like straight ass and Tom Cruise sucks so I'm glad.

>I unironically enjoyed The Mummy
Goddammit why can't cheesy monster movies ever do well?
>>83755035
I personally just hate Tom Cruise
what was /tv/ like when pic related happened?
I was on a flight and saw people crying in their seats. Across from me this hothead was telling his son to be a big guy and stop crying. We all felt extremely painful

Blonde Emma is kino
> “I’m sure that the crew members on all its ships would have been briefed to bring back anything of interest. It would be part of one’s job to bring it back. An alien, of course, would be of top priority. This particular corporation didn’t have a preconceived notion that an alien would be found on this mission, much less the particular alien that is brought onto the ship. The idea of bringing it back alive would not have been on the minds of the corporate executives when they first received the alien transmission. They just had high expectations when they ordered the Nostromo to investigate – it was purely out of curiosity.” - Ridley Scott
Does this make the Company look better or worse?
We've been over this already today. Everyone agrees Ridley is just wrong.
>>83755207
Oh. What else did I miss?
>>83755207
Ridley is pretty much confirmed to be senile at this stage. I don't know why people got hyped for Covenant.

Pretty much this. The Lt. Aldo Raine jokes stopped being funny after the 12 minute mark.
Props to this film for being (somewhat) politically balanced.
God damn this little lady can not act
For an alien that's recently come to visit from its extraterrestrial home planet, its acting isn't THAT bad.

don't believe /tv/'s lies
I unironically and unpretentiously consider this one of my favourite movies. Saw it when it was new, and have rewatched it a couple of times with other people. Everyone I've seen it with has enjoyed it.
It's not just scenes in reverse order like /tv/ likes to meme, there's tons of more and less subtle hints in every scene that wouldn't make sense if the scenes were just reorganized. And the way the cuts in time are placed are very well thought out. Really like it 5/5
So, they hired the actress to be in the movie that is an adaptation of a book that wasn't ready yet. Where is the movie?
>>83753316
Wait, what?
What is Queen of the Tearling? Is it a Game of Thrones book?
Does it annoy anyone that they call the series Game of Thrones instead of A Song of Ice and Fire?
>>83753316
Based Emma. She's a decent actress and not even a bloated bulldyke landwhale with neon hairdye kind of a feminist. She actually takes care of her body and only makes token feminist gestures like promoting women's rights in third world shitholes like Angelina Jolie likes to do. Why /tv/ hates her is still beyond me.
>>83753389
It's a new fade, do you know how every game is "just like Dark Souls" and how every book used to be "the new The Lord of the Rings"? Now we say it's "the next Game of Thrones".
What was her endgame?
>>83753307
She literally says it in every episode she was in. To be queen.
>be queen
>use political power for familial gain
The end
