Because film is reaching the point where pretty much every story that exists has been told. Everything has been done. Just like music. All we can do now is do the same thing but mix it up or improve it so it's a little different. There's no big untold story that's going to be totally different from anything we've seen, they just don't exist. Human experience is finite.

You don't work with friends the atmosphere is to much fucking around to seriously do something. Get starters and amateurs. Provide food on the set and make sure they get their travel expenses covered and you are good to go.
