Also Magnolia. Sure the technical aspects are really good eg. directing, acting, score, overall atmosphere. But such a shallow film once you realize that it's basically just: "Muh white ppl problems" and everything is just sappy and overly sentimental drivel, like with that little fuckboy on the gameshow crying about how his dad is mean to him, awww.

Then lots of things just start coming off as pretentious, like the zoom in on the painting saying "But it did happen"

Don't know how else to convey the information of what happened to her? Just zoom in on a fucking random painting where text blatantly tells you.

No. It's interesting enough to listen to if you're a twin peaks nerd but compare that shit they did to "Dance of the Dream Man" to the original. They also made The Pink Room distinctly less intense then it is originally despite adding some obnoxious super loud guitar on it.
