It was slow in the shop today so I skated out early but it was too hot to do anything outside, so I hung out in the AC and watched this flick and I have to say, it was a really good movie.
"End of Watch is a 2012 American crime drama film written and directed by David Ayer. It stars Jake Gyllenhaal and Michael Peña as Brian Taylor and Miguel Zavala, two Los Angeles Police Department officers who work in South Los Angeles. The film focuses on their day-to-day police work, their dealings with a certain group of gang members, their friendship with each other, and their personal relationships.
Ayer, who had written several police procedural films previously, wanted the film to focus more on the friendship between partners and honest police work rather than corruption. Gyllenhaal, Peña, and other cast members underwent an intensive training program to prepare for their roles as police officers. Filming took place in Los Angeles in August 2011 with a budget of $7 million.
The film premiered on September 8, 2012 at the Toronto International Film Festival and was released in American theaters on September 21, grossing over $57 million at the box office. The film was well received by critics and received a number of accolades, including two Independent Spirit Award nominations."
That is one of the worst opening posts I've seen in years. Apply yourself
On a normal board, this would be a fine post. But this will get no serious replies because it isn't edgy, controversial, or meme-containing.
Sorry newfriend.

ITT: Great directors who have never made a great film
(i.e great = a canonical masterpiece which has/will prove extremely significant, on account of its artistic quality, in the history of the medium)

Grand Budapest is great.
Bottle Rocket is his actual masterpiece but it didn't get enough circulation to be as recognized as it deserves.

I'm very sad about this because I enjoyed a couple of his films.

Why is there so much hate on Aliens?
because Cameron ruined the alien
- dood bugs/roaches
- lets make it hive like structure and take out egg morphing
- dumber aliens, less humanoid
- le 80s action craze (even tho i like this in other movies)

4chan is populated by naturally contrarian people.
In addition to this, it is common for the subsequent generation to pick and choose things from the previous generation that it dislikes, in an effort to establish an individual identity. This, in a contrarian's case, sometimes in spite of a given work's obvious quality (or lack thereof).
This is the reason why /mu/ users regularly claim to hate the Beatles, and it's the reason why /tv/ users regularly claim to hate Aliens, or, say, "rehabilitate" the Star Wars prequels (having the misfortune to have been raised with the latter is part of what's going on as well).

>>84215987
wow thanks for making me realize I didn't actually hate it, despite what I though all this time, and I'm just a contrarian!!!! very nice!!

What are some movies where the protagonist perfectly predict the future?
What movies show the father riding the coat tails of his son that is so hyped up he will fail
>>84215740
Who will play him in the inevitable biopic? Idris?
Its more of a movie about a father plotting his revenge against the association that ruined him
