I have yet to see an actual thought provoking or interesting argument in saying this movie is shit. I can think of probably over 100 reasons why it's great. Waaaaah it wasn't the tv show!

It was vindicated way before that.

It got bad reviews at release because people expected it to continue the series from the show's ending, but expanding Laura's story was a way better choice than "90 minutes of Cooper fighting some villain we never heard of".

Then what went wrong along the way? This movie is the same formula as every other Daniel Craig JB film but shittier because the villain is a pale imitation of the wacky guy in Skyfall. Also, Craig is way too fucking old-looking to be screwing around with a little French qt. It was total trash, and this is coming from someone who enjoyed Skyfall, CR, and QoS and wanted to like this movie.

Partly and very astute point. Derren sprinkles certain elements and gives you pieces but leaves out other key parts so you're still just confused enough.

I would say the plot is the one thing that's taken a downward turn in the Wahlberg movies. Both of them feel like two scripts stapled together instead of one straight-forward story.

The modern audience is too sophisticated. We won't have soap operas in 20 years and pro-wrestling will be gone in 50. No sports will be televised at all in 75 years and in 100 years no one will even remember what television is.

AR is about to change the game. "Half-hour anthology shows"? Pah! You are clinging to a dying vine, friend. TTZ is a nice artifact of history but there's no point making something like it today.

In the late '50s TV was relatively new and a lot of film writers and novelists were getting into the game so you had a lot of talent that could come up with new sci fi ideas for each episode. Today TV is a dead medium with writers who don't have experience or skills to cross over into other mediums. Kind of like how people say TV has never had higher budgets but Miami Vice could get new hit songs by big artists while today's shows use nasty freeware banjo music

Although the premise seems amazing, the show is actually shit.

This show was glorious trash in its early seasons but is now just the regular kind of trash. It's not Dexter-tier yet but it's getting there.
