Just came out of War for the Planet of the Apes. Ilikedit.
pros
>Phenomenal Visual effects. Every seen I watched I was wondering how many server farms and how much rendering time it took to make each shot. Beautiful. They lost Special FX Oscar to Interstellar with Dawn. They better win this year.
>Andy Serkis gives his best performance in the series. Really makes you feel for the character. I think the reason he doesn't get nominated is because actors are scared of green screen taking over. I get it but he should at least get recognized.
>Plot keeps you invested and gives a gritty look at the world that pushes beyond Dawn. There also clues that help tie it to the original film that'll be a treat for fans.
>Just a personal thing. I liked thereference to Apocalypse now
cons
>Woody Harrelson pretty much plays himself. You never feel his rage. His performance is almost too restrained. His whole motivation is delivered in exposition. He's just way too calm and not in a menacing way.
>Dat exposition dump. Jesus. At the end of the second act Woody explains everything we need to know about the plot of the movie in one scene. It would have been fine if he displayed his rage, heck give me cheesy overacting but I guess Matt Reeves told him to hold back.
>The movie feels longer than it actually is. I've watched Nolan films that felt shorter. Emotional scenes drag out sometimes. There are at least 3 scenes with close-up character deaths in the movie and they do just that.
>I wish there were more scenes allotted to the human characters in general. The human character are nazi tryhards. I wish there was a bit more nuance. They could have had scenes dedicated tothe other humans on the opposing side before the battle went down.
>A little heavy on the nazi, skinhead, nationalist, Christian symbolism.
>I wanted a more philosophical war about how apes are not that different or far off in the genome than humans but what we got was a 'holy war'.
Aside from those things I liked it. It's a solid 7/10. Matt Reeves is clearly a more visual, thematic, 'filmic' director as opposed to Nolan's more tension driven style. If that makes sense. Reeves is a more traditional film-making almost to a fault is what I mean.
I fee like the movie was kinda meh, some moments were really cheesy and too repetitive to care but overall I came out of the theater thinking Caesar was a great character with a lot of depth through the series. Now the movie is mildly growing on me and I'm shilling it among my friends, if you can look past the absurdity of monkeys with guns you are probably gonna enjoy this movie.also lol at the blatant product placement

Main monkey's family is killed and he's out for revenge with his monotone tough guy voice.
Just watched it for the first time
Shit was cash. Comfy/10
What do you think about it ?
Also, comfy movies thread

It's good but a little too preachy. Weird Science is my favorite John Hughes

Just read wiki
I was a fan a Weird Science (the tv show) in the 90s
I didn't even know that was a movie

The Dirty Dozen
Wow this was horrible. 10 minutes worth of interesting content stretched over 2.5 hours. I'm glad this ruined Spike Jonzes career. Fuck his nepotistic ass.
>>84966862
Not bothered with this because I felt this might be the case.
Not willing to watch a 2+ hour film if only 30 minutes of it is worth watching... and this has been the general consensus of most people that have commented on the film.
>>84966862
hated this movie. This guy was a fucking pussy fr
Why does this movie trigger you kids so?

Hey i had a crush on these characters
>unarmed black teen is strangled to death by a policeman because he played his music too loud
>white people are more concerned with a broken shop window
Why do white people not understand this movie at all?
lmao unironically good point

makes sense to me, if I lived in new york I'd care way more about my personal livelihood then a hoodlum down the block getting killed because of stupidity.
it's not a race thing either.

Did Ren molest Louis?
Why didn't they just take a helicopter up the river?
because heart of darkness.
End thread
RPG-7's were a thing.
Why didn't they just do a fly by and have him airdrop near the camp?
Was it kino?
>>84966405
No, It lacked something. I'm not denying that it's a good movie but there was no depth. It was just, "guy gets out of retirement for a job, he completes it, sheriff kills friend, he kills sheriff and everyone else." But still, great performances.
>>84966522
I think it has a pretty clear anti-violence message
>>84966405
>beta alcoholic falls off the wagon and turns into a monster
Reminded me of my dad, so yeah, kino.
Did Ralphie kill Pie-O-My?

Does an interior decorator disappear in the woods?
>>84966404
Bill burr wouldn't do some shit like that, fatass (((T)))ONE just used it as a means to justify killing him for not liking him
I'd say so. Ralphie is a liar, cheap, and hated the fact that Tony tried to take part ownership of her/had to give a piece of the winnings to Tony.
SLIME ANYONE?!
Get into cytub /tv/ watching GHOSTWRITER!
You laughin' at me /tv/?!

Is that you, John Wayne? Is this me?
-Ironmonger: Tony inspired his armor.
-Whiplash: Howard's direct fault.
- Killian/Mandarin: All stems from a grudge against Tony.
- Ultron: Tony's direct fault.
- Scarlet Witch/Quicksilver: Were only possible because HYDRA got Loki's scepter, which was Tony's fault for Loki coming in the first place.
- Vulture: Tony's indirect fault.
- Shocker: Tony's indirect fault.
- Zemo: Tony fails to secure anything against Zemo's interference.
- Yellowjacket: Tony's indirect fault for being so incompetent that Hank Pym wouldn't trust him to help.
- Red Skull and all of HYDRA: Howard's indirect fault for failing to stop them early on when he and Captain America had the chance.
The only villains not their fault are the ones from other planets and Abomination. And Abomination is still the fault of General Ross, one of Tony's close allies.
>>84966084
This is a pretty dumb thread, so let me refute it by talking about all the villains Stark and his dad had nothing to do with. I'll go ahead and give you Zemo since he was mad at the Avengers as a whole, which would include Stark.
>Abomination
>Loki
>Red Skull
>The dark elves
>Bucky/Neo-HYDRA
>Thanos
>Ronan
>Yellowjacket
>The bad guy from Dr. Strange
>Ego
Your argument is basically that Iron Man has a connection with villains who appear in the same film as him. No shit, Sherlock.
Pretty much.
>>84966229
>>Bucky/Neo-HYDRA
Neo HYDRA was Howard-s fault for bringing in a mole into S.H.I.E.L.D.
