The gatekeeping on this board is unreal sometimes. Talk about liking x film, get called a Patrician. If you like a few well known foreign films? "You have no taste, you're what's wrong with cinema" ect.
>"Okay, I'll bite, what are some films I should watch?"
> 2/3 of the replies are useless or fall into the line of "NORMIES STOP RUINING MY KINO REEEEEEEEEEEEE"
I thought I'd check out this place because I was tired of the SJW cancer on letterboxd but this place seems worse (I don't know what I expected), although some of you do have cool tastes and a good knowledge of film when you aren't being dickheads for no feasible reason.
Are there any actual good online film communities out there? Or interesting ones that can help me learn more?

On the inverted side, Michael Bay is apparently a really cool guy according to a lot of actors who've worked with him, Anthony Hopkins probably being to most recent to say so.

Has anyone got any recommendations? I've been on a bit of a horror movie binge since having a marathon of them at a friend's place, but none of them actually scare me.
Pic unrelated, but I did love Cabin in the Woods.

Should Lawrence get the Tate role in Tarantino's new Manson movie?
Tarantino is rusing the fuck out of everyone and I can't wait until his real reveal
Honestly he's done this with every movie yet people keep falling for it

the more of his movies I watch, the more I suspect he just takes pleasure in brutality. the elevation of this man to auteur and poet is the icing on the cake of shit that is postmodern culture
>>84972977

SWING AND A MISS RICK
I really have to hand it to the film, it makes the conflict so much more personal than I first imagined.
The film starts with Bruce fleeing from a childhood trauma into a cave of bats, allowing himself to escape trauma by absorbing the Batman persona. The next scene, we see Bruce navigate massive destruction caused by Kryptonians, he sees a little girl and saves her. Looking up, he sees Superman becoming to that girl what Joe Chill became to him. Superman becomes the vessel in which Batman projects his trauma, the perfect enemy for a great tragedy. Batman's conflict is never really with Superman as much as it is with himself.
And becoming the vessel of trauma, Superman is tested on a psychological and spiritual level, not just in raw strength. Only Superman is great enough to contain his trauma and only Superman is great enough to save Bruce from that trauma. By allowing himself to become a victim to Batman, letting Batman see the roles reversed. And then becoming the superhero model which all heroes should abide to, by sacrificing himself to save the world. Therefore Batman is saved not from Superman but from his own trauma.
I read The Dark Knight Returns and I feel like this is way more honest and respecting to these characters than the Frank Miller story, which reduced Superman to a puppet.

This is film. Do you also post /his/ in the Dunkirk threads?
>>84973086
It's a flick at best. >>>/trash/

>some kike roleplaying as a feminine kike goddess powerful enough to overthrow everyother power, when that isnt enough she helps create a more powerful organization of goyim that she can manipulate with her femininity
i honestly cant see why you'd call it a piece of crap desu
What 2017 movie are you most hyped about?
vaentine, kingsman 2
definitely not disney shill 9
>>84972572
I can't think of a single one. I find it a chore to watch anything made this century, really. I only do it not to feel totally out-of-touch, but I don't really have any time for contemporary narrative film.
>>84972572
Blade Runner.
Fuck capeshit.
why do /a/fags hate these movies again?
because Asuka became a fucking tsuntsun and shows no affection at all towards shinji until the absolute very last scene when they walk away
also what the fuck was up with the timeskip
It butchers the source material, the characters act out of character, the plot is a fucking mess, and the whole Rebuild trilogy feels like a quick cash grab off the eva name.
But the music is top tier kino
The original series and EoE were products of a bunch of different factors. These factors will never truly be replicated again, and any attempt to continue those works will be inauthentic and lack the raw craziness/chance of what made the originals.
It simply isn't the same thing.
I've been noticing a lot of division regarding the latest Spider-Man movie, do you guys think that maybe America just wasn't ready for this level of diversity in a movie?
You have to admit that most of the relationships are interracial, actually there are barely any white characters besides Peter. some people aren't into that.
Me in the back.
no one cares about a rehashed character of a tired genera who's a gay twinkfag co-staring the residents of a harlem ghetto
>>84972407
Kong: Skull Island was near enough the same when it came to diversity. It got a pass.
