Has anyone else noticed how on Goddard's Breathless Michel is almost a perfect representation of the absurd man? Not only does he feel no remorse after committing a crime as Camus argued should happen with absurdism, but he also seems to be totally indifferent towards everything, even his dead. He even fits one of the archetypes of the absurd man that Camus describes on the second chapter of the myth of sisyphus, Don Juan.
I had also heard that it could be argued that the jumpcuts have existential implications as it indicates the meaninglessness of the time intervals between moral decisions.
So do you think this is a coincidence or did Goddard actually based the movie on absurdism?

I don't know, but good points.

Kys OP
but michel cared for his pixie cut girlfriend. he dies in the end because he decided to love and trust her. even meursault from the stranger by camus didn't particularly care about having a girlfriend, it just sort of happens, and he really doesn't care even when she does come along. michel obviously had feelings for someone.
why did you think this was a good thread to post on /tv/ by the way, the same day dunkirk is released
What is the most romantic movie you've ever seen? I'm in the mood to feel like I used to when I was actually able to fall head over heels for a girls.
Now, I'm jaded and either find them bland and dumb or they act too much like fucking guys.
Also just watched the Friends episode where Chandler buys Kathy that book and thought that was actually pretty touching.
A couple favourites are Cruel Intentions and Vanilla Sky, so you have an idea of my taste.

This movie is not that good. Honestly have a headache from the clock ticking the entire movie and the bullets...geez. I wasn't even front row but this was bad.
Only plot that seemed cohesive was Hardy and even then his stunts and dog-fighting were unrealistic. By no means Nolan's best.
>>85237829
the whole plot was just them getting evacuated, what did your pea brain not understand?
Did you fail to realize that it wasn't chronological?
>>85237829

It's funny she was able to push her political message and not be overbearing and hated by 50% of the country for doing it. Why? Because it wasn't mean spirited like every political message is today.

>Know a guy who goes to film school, he proceeds to give me a list of his recommendations.
His list is the following:
Kill BIll Vol 1 and 2
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and 2
The Dark Knight Trilogy
Drive
Fargo
Scott Pilgrim
>I'm polite, "Yeah! good stuff loved that raccoon too!"
>I proceed to give him a list of recommendations too. Not sure if my taste is any better but eh, keep the conversation rolling
My list based on his taste:
Lady Snowblood 1 and 2
Buckaroo Banzai
Dredd, Dark Man, and Batman 89
The Driver
Dog Day Afternoon
Billy Liar
>anon's list: I bet you've never heard of this movie hehe
His list is objectively better. It all comes down to opinion though really. But I prefer your friends list. Neither is bad imo
>>85237384
