Yes, that's Dave's whole narrative arc in the film.

He's not Italian, but idolizes the Italian cyclist team so he learns the language and pretends to be Italian throughout the film.

The big race at the end finally happens and as he rides into the pack with the Italian racers, hoping to impress them, they instead knock him off his bike and cheat.

After the race, he stops pretending to be Italian because he realizes what pieces of shit Italians are and he'd been making a fool of himself throughout the whole film.

The actress in it is pretty hot slag, the main character is pretty funny not intentionally and I mean the show is semi-interesting. I wouldn't call it a GREAT show but it's a fun and decent quality for a American Revolution themed show.

Also Simcoe is the BEST fucking character on the show. Talk about development.

If you didn't see the show or read the book, the best thing you can do is wait for the next 6th book of the series (The winds of winter), probly by the time the book comes out and you finish read the book, the next and last 8th season of GOT will come up. and you can bing watch it.

Watch the first and second seasons since they're the only decent ones and the starting reading the books.

If you're someone that likes to read, start with the books and let your brain create the entire Game of thrones universe for you.
Keep in mind that there's gonna be a lot to read. Depending on your speed and time, it could take a few weeks or even months to go through all the books that are out.

Then watch the show afterwards.
Watching the show first will rob you of the chance to imagine the GoT-Universe however you want, since you'll be reading about character X and all you'll think about is actor X who plays character X in the show.

So books first, if you're into books.
