What does /tv/ think of this movie?
overhyped. It was alright though.
Music was nice, Joel Edgerton had a good performance. Riley Keough was fine too. Casting was weird becasue Edgertons family was mixed but the son was clearly just some black kid who showed up and didnt look mixed race at all.
Plot was minimalist to a pretty annoying degree considering how vague the presentation is. The director was clearly trying to make a movie people would endlessley theorize about but the story is just so bare bones and drawn out that the vagueness is more annoying than intriguing.
The scares were also for the most part pretty lackluster with the only one that was any good being the dog running way (mostly because it was the only one that didnt happen in a fucking dream). But mostly the scares were so stupid.
>travis is dreaming about his grandfather
>grandfather just lurches upwards and vomits when the music suddenly gets loud
>dreaming about grandpa again
>grandpa opens his mouth and starts screaming after it was really quiet and the music (i shit you not) builds up with him as a he stares at the camera and screams for 5 uninterrupted seconds, fucking laughable
>Travis stares at the open door
>nothing even happens but the music suddenly becomes really fucking loud but LITERALLY nothing happened and Travis runs way
also
>using dream sequences
>ever
Director has a lot to learn. He did an alright job with this but he could be great

>yfw Ridley Scott says he plans on making 6 more Alien movies
rëddit will love it
Was it a horrible mistake releasing this the same week as Dunkino?
I really want it to be good and do well.
I want to see this, and I'm not interested in Dunkirk, so maybe distinct audiences.
>We need the speed! The speed to cruise control!
got to admit that was pretty clever how they worked that in
What are some cringey movie scenes you cannot bear to watch?
That scene in Taxi Driver where Travis takes his date to the porn theater always makes me skip ahead
I don't understand that part of the film. Is he that out of touch with reality?

The answering machine scene in Swingers.

That bitch in Taxi Driver was so hot
>you"ll never watch your foster mother sleep with titty out
Is he a better actor or director?
>>85499325
yes
Lethal Weapon and Mad Max were iconic, but not solely because of Mel.
And though he's a good director, he hasn't made a piece that's really going to stand the test of time.
Tbqh, he's just solidly decent at both. You probably just have some skewed notion that's he's amazing because he said bad things about Jews and women.
>Make a religious porn movie that only rednecks and white trash like
>Get drunk and when a cop pulls you over you express your love for sand niggers
>Beg your Jewish overlords for forgiveness and apologize multiple times, but they show no mercy and kill your career
>Become an even bigger alcoholic in your depression
>Your wife cucks you for a nigger
>You get caught on tape crying about how upset you are that your wife is cucking you for a nigger
>Now trying to appease his masters by making an anti-war movie glamorizing a soldier who refused to kill the enemy, starring a Jewish actor
Is there a bigger cuck in Hollywood than Mel Gibson?
>The constant desire to do something great and the knowledge that it’s not really in me. I’ve had more than my share of opportunity over the decades to do something great, to break new ground, to find a new form, to electrify, to really stun people. After a while I had to realize, well, wait a minute, nobody’s stopping me. I mean, go ahead and do it. You can do anything you want to. You can have a blank screen for an hour and a half in the movie house if you wanted; you’re the boss. And then I start to think the reason it is not coming is that you can’t do it. You don’t have it in you. You do not have greatness in you; you’re not Kurosawa, or Fellini. You’re a comic turned film director with a modest talent to amuse, to entertain. But true greatness is not in you. You’re not William Faulkner or Cole Porter. You’re one of the entertainers of your lifetime and that’s it. So I’m constantly struggling to say no, this isn’t so, wait until you see what I do next. Then I see what I do next and it’s truly fine and nice but it’s not…I can’t live up to my own egotistical image of myself, I guess.
How can Orson Welles bash this guy?
