I can see why this is appealing but there's something about John Green's writing that really annoys me.

All the jokes they make about his act on the show, how it's just funny observations are 100% true.

The delivery makes a bad joke into a passable one, and Jerry just knows his stuff when it comes to that.
Part of why nobody really takes his standup that seriously on the show, his jokes are not all that good but he knows how to present them.
