ITT: remakes that are better than the original
This masterpiece. Paul Verhoeven is a hack.
I'll eat my dick if more than 9/10 people who say Carpenter's Thing is better than Hughes' have actually seen the original.
I don't get it.

A cosmic deity fond of human cinema has gifted you with the ability to restore ONE actor, living or dead, to their prime (up to you when that was) so that they may make more "kino". Who do you choose?
Pacino
Phillip Seymore Hoffman
>>86542856
Jackie Chan, but only because Arnold Schwarzenegger is the most obvious choice.
Name a better war kino.
>>86542853
>kino
>people only remember the first half (don't deny it)
apocalypse now
>>86542853
Kubricks weakest film. The first half, while good, was essentially The R Lee Ermey Show, and the second half is just a string of loosley connected battle scenes
What are your expectations for Bond 25?
Casino Royal/ Skyfall level of good or QoS/ Spectre level of bad?
>>86542458
If 25 is good Daniel craig will be a for sure top 3 bond.
a take on the On Her Majesty's Secret Service
pretty much all the elements are already there (Blofeld alive, SPECTRE etc) and they can replace Tracy with Madeline and have that downer ending
I reckon some of these things
>Disabled Bond girl
>Bond does something that (without context) completely contradicts a historical aspect of the character
>Celebrity cameo
>Stormzy theme song
Should I watch the original or redux? Why?
Does redux just add the frenchmen scene? if so, its not that important
watch the original first, if you like it watch redux after
pacing on the redux is way off
>>86542485
It adds 49 minutes.

Why are all fantasy names alike?
Aragorn, Eragon, Aegon, Rhaegar, Anduin, Tambourin etc.
because it's better than HululaDoesTheHulaInHawaii
>>86542275
Lord of the Rings, Tolkein was great about coming up with naming conventions due to his knowledge of old English that helped to set the mood.
Helped set the precedent that those Ah's and Ou's sounds make it sound like old fantasy names.
Because fantasy is the worst, least imaginative genre. Sci-fi, on the other hand...
(Except for when it's just fantasy dressed as sci-fi, like fucking Star Wars).
