What are you working on /tv/?
>>86953524
Legit question, how does one get started with screenwriting? Going to classes/school? I've been working on a novel on and off but I'm wondering if my writing would be better suited for a show/movie.
>>86953576
I ended up falling into a group of filmmakers and just started writing shorts. I'm as amateur as it gets though, so seconding this question on a professional level.
On an amateur level just start writing using writersduet or celtx, and submit to contests.

Ask yourself why would it be more suited for a show or movie, what is it in that medium that is necessary to tell the story? It's the same problem with video game writers writing and designing games that should be made into a movie instead of writing a story that can only be told in the medium you are using

The Bothersome Man
>$150 million budget but can't fix monstrous plot hole
>Crane and his loons pouring toxin into the water mains
>Anyone with a minimal amount of plumbing knowledge knows this is absolutely impossible bullshit
>Water mains are pressurized (80-130+ psi), if you busted one open it would flood the building. You would not be able to overcome the pressure to add posion
>Water mains are not circular, even if somehow you forced poison into mains it would only affect the stuff downstream of you, which is basically your building
>It's physically fucking impossible for it to flow back to the pumping station and contaminate the entire city supply.
>Even if you added it at the pumping station "for weeks" it would be flushed out of the lines under normal usage almost as fast as you added it.
>Using a giant microwave to boil the water in the lines and rupture them spreading steam everywhere is also bullshit. Once one line busted everything would depressurize.
>Basically the entire section of the movie plot is completely ludicrous bullshit

I'll probably have to wait 4-5 hours after the episode airs for the streams to start rolling in so I can watch it.
Going to be 2 years until next season

BBC Newsnight did a piece on Game of Thrones. They brought on:
A member of Scotland yard who works in the department of child sexual exploitation
A psychiatrist who specialises in victims of child sexual exploitation
A literary professor
Their joint conclusion was that Game of Thrones was written by a pedophile for pedophiles. In order to promote and generate acceptance for pedophilia. How do you feel now, that you've been watching a pedo show all along.

Are we witnessing the end of films as a viable means of telling compelling stories?

Both are shit.

What are some other movies that portray 1940s/50s Los Angeles, like Chinatown, LA Confidential, and the first 30 minutes of The Godfather?
Note, im not looking for movies set in Los Angeles FROM the 40s/50s, more of a retroactive look at the city. Faux noir i suppose

But...why not just watch the movies made in the 1940s/50s? They were good movies.
3rd season of Twin Peaks is the best TV Kino of the last 25 years.

Anon, I'm so tired.
