Where white guys succeed in Asia is that they're generally much more wealthy than the average guy there. An average middle class guy from the west is often earning 2 or 3 times as much as the average guy of the same age in Thailand or China. Even when teaching English, which is mostly for young people right after university, you're earning a lot more than new local graduates.

I'm sure it was a lot easier in Asia 20-30 years ago when Asian economies were just starting out their surge. Now a days local girls there can find a local guy who earns a decent living.

OP, in general, "the American Dream" is why any white person would be idolized for the basic reason. A chance at citizenship. A person from a culture without castes or inequality. To a woman from a society with more pronounced gender inequality, the opportunity to have a relationship built on solid equal partnership might be seen as very attractive to a women with exposure to more international ideas about a woman's role, not just based on custom but a lack of deserving respect. So, there's that. There might be a desire for children to "pass as white" or to have better opportunities than someone 100% from their home culture (would have). A one day eventual future of not only a child having a foreign citizenship (or dual passport ability), but whatever opportunities it might provide to the parents to move or experience retirement with more opportunities abroad, even intending to later have the home country family supported through checks home. Could be a desire just to move, to live a different culture.

You can also blame hollywood. For some of the same reasons black men want white blonde women? Or whatever you find attractive from some anime addiction...you like what you like. A woman in some other country might have a "Brad Pitt" type, or any other appearing celebrity they grew up watching.

I'm in my mid-30s, white guy who married an Asian girl in Asia many years ago. We're still together. I've dated tons of Asians, Asian-Americans, and white girls in the U.S. and Europe. This topic is often misunderstood by young, inexperienced guys.

First, you know how there's yellow fever? Well, there's white fever--there are a lot of Asian girls who want to fuck a white guy to see what it's like. My wife first met me because she saw a porn video of an Asian girl and a white guy and she wanted to try it out. Never thought she'd marry me.

There are also Asian girls who want to try black guys, particularly in South Korea due to the hip hop craze.

Beyond that, you can't generalize about Asian girls and white guys. It's really nation/region specific.

Japan - Beyond the white fever girls, very few want to marry foreigners. This is confirmed by stats; the total number of foreign/Japanese marriages are small relative to population size. South Korea - SK is the most sexist country in Asia despite being one of the richest. Being a woman there is hell--the cultural expectations, the restrictive clothing/makeup, the shit pay--this is why plastic surgery is so big there.
